Drink-driver was dressed as Star Wars heroine"'She was dressed as Princess Leia and her husband as Luke Skywalker, and they thought it was a bit embarrassing to walk the streets of Murton dressed like that." Walking in costume or getting arrested in costume, which is worse?

Thanks for the link; I share your judgement. That story about Caprica sure is chilling. Another point of interest regarding his theory will be the upcoming extension of another franchise, Stargate. Could be good, could be soap opera, or—going by "Eli Wallace"—horse opera. This bit from the articlereminds me of the idea that lacking trust in the genre might be reestablished via easier movies (here: remakes instead of franchises), which we discussed some time ago: I believe that, while the movie is great, and critics adored it too, it did not attract an audience, and was overall a financial failure. Between that and the drollness of A.I., studios might well be afraid to make a serious, budgeted science fiction film at this point. You never know, maybe they have to go through Classic Movie Remake Valley and see a little success before they can get back to making new and compelling science fiction again. While we wished for good "serious" SF and the author of the article for good "space operas" (I'd like both, please!), maybe those are two related theories we can all cling too.

The Hunt for GollumBeen making the rounds of the internet. Pretty good actually. Sound's kinda low though, so you might have to turn your speakers up.

You Can't Please EveryoneOne-Star amazon.com reviews of classic films, albums, and literature. Some of these are surely just people trying to be funny, but the fact that I can't say that about all of them makes me weep.

Think Google is cool? Wait till you see Wolfram/Alpha. It's just about to be publicly launched, but watch this extremely cool intro video. Basically, it's a computation engine that ties into very deep web searches. I'm blown away by the implications.
