A tale of obsession, love, corruption, greed and depravity that revolves around a true story of the brutal murder of a fledgling Hollywood starlet that shocked and fascinated the nation in 1947 and remains unsolved today. Two ex-pugilist cops, Lee Blanchard and Bucky Bleichert, are called to investigate the homicide of ambitious silver-screen B-lister Betty Ann Short--A.K.A. "The Black Dahlia"--an attack so grisly that images of the killing were kept from the public. While Blanchard's growing preoccupation with the sensational murder threatens his marriage to Kay, his partner, Bleichert, finds himself attracted to the enigmatic Madeleine Linscott, the daughter of one of the city's most prominent families--who just happens to have an unsavory connection to the murder victim.I didn't know anything about this murder til I moved out to LA...but around here it's still news...(the Living Dead Dolls did a "black dahlia" doll even)... so I'm really looking forward to this movie. 1. Based on a true story that I'm familiar with the details of, 2. Based on a book by James Ellroy who is an amazing writer (writer of L.A. Confidential) and 3. Filmed in a classic Film Noir style. So I dont' know if anyone out there has heard of this movie yet?...anyone planning on seeing it? It get released Sept. 15.

Today is the first I've heard anything about this-
I haven't been keeping up with the newest releases. Oh the shame!
-First a preview and now this post.
I'm actually really looking forward to it. It'll probably be a rental, but who knows, if I find the right person to go with I might see it in a theater.

I try to stay away from these true crime (murder imparticular) movies but this one looks so old hollywood, glam that I think I'll see it...even though it's got Hilary Swank in it.

This really does look like a good movie... hello, nearby movie theater! I always find these types of stories intriguing.

Well, I still wanna see it, but apparently the distributors don't think much of it. They already have the rental advertised in the November buyer's guide for my local video store, so they can't expect it to stick around too long.
