I'm not sure if this should go in "movies" or not, but it seems the most logical place. I have found a break from the monotony of college work/life to enjoy simpler pleasures... like coming back to MRFH to read reviews I've missed... and go to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show at a local theater. That's right. I'm turning into one of those kinds of college students. I guess I put this thread up to ask... does anyone else have an appreciation for this movie? (I know the wonderful Head Mutant had less than kind words to say about it in his review, haha.) And I know there's got to be some people around here who have gone to the midnight showings. At least one of 'em. And would there happen to be any castmembers about? I've recently become the Columbia understudy for the Low Down Cheap Little Punks (the Raleigh cast). Come out of the woodwork, guys. Pleeeease?

I was waiting for this thread, having seen your blog...
I have a soft spot for RHPS. Always will. It's great fun, it's utterly dumb, and it's a fantastic live experience.
Break a leg, Columbia! When do you get started?

Oh, I should have known better than to think making my blog available to Poolman was a good idea!
I should actually be starting soon, maybe even this December. It's still not certain, but... *crosses fingers* I'm hoping I can meet up again with the regular Columbia to rehearse some more sequences that we couldn't do Friday. And speaking of that rehearsal, I walked the two and a half miles from my dorm to the theater. It's scary, how dedicated I can become... haha.
But yes. Great fun live. Silly experiences for all!

I love going to participant viewings of this movie. Nothing else to say, really.

I haven't been in almost a year, but I do have an Eddie costume that I would wear. Although walking to and from the theater with a fake head wound isn't the best idea I've ever had.

Y'know, just the fact thatI'm even typing this right now is kinda like: "Hey, Pot? It's Kettle. I think we need to talk about your current hue situation," however, somehow I get the impression that this thread is gonna reach three or four pages in that many days, yet movies that should have that many pages gets ignored.

"yet movies that should have that many pages gets ignored. "
This is a site for film criticism - value judgements have no place here.
Oh, wait... ;-)

Hey... *shrugs* I didn't see anything wrong with starting the thread. I don't really even forsee it reaching multiple pages, to tell the truth. I just thought it would be fun to post something about it because it's also related to a recent thing for me, and who better to share with than the Mutants?

I'll admit to being a complete RHPS virgin. I did, however, love that episode of The Drew Carey Show where the gang got costumed up and did an impromptu dance-off of "The Time Warp" vs. Mimi and her "Shake Your Groove Thang." Hi-larious. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV70FpboHvg-D

I haven't been to a midnight showing either. Only a matter of time, though, I'm sure. And that was a great episode of the Drew Carey Show, Drew.
(heh heh, you two have the same name. I don't care how childish it makes me to be amused by that.)

I can see *why* it's cult, and *why* there's a large midnight show following, but I can't get past how incredibly bad -- in many definitions of the word -- it is. I have quite a few friends who sympathise in this, particularly the desire to want to stab your eardrums by about the fourth warbling song, which makes me feel a bit better.
But... really, if you love it, I'm not here to try to tear that away from you. Rock on. I felt bad I never gave it a full fair shake early in MRFH history, and there's a re-review laying about somewhere, in which I noted that there's a LEAGUE of difference between RHPS the movie, and RHPS the cult experience. I think the movie sucks and sucks hard. The experience might well be different, but I prefer to be odd in my own way. (puts on elephant slippers and howls at the moon)
