I was at Best Buy today and was perusing the comedy aisle. Among the titles was "Secretary", a S&M movie that has not one whit of comedy, quirk or wit within.
So let's start a thread based on your observations of local video rental shops and stores -- what movies have you seen wildly mis-classified in terms of genre?

My local Blockbuster used to put many creature/goth movies in with the actioners, including Cronos, which has almost no action at all.
For bonus points, it has a cover featuring a beautiful young woman with the gold Cronos bug puncturing her neck. This looks like a typical capitalization on the vampires=sex theme, except that there are NO women in the movie who are even in that age bracket. The main character is older and so is his wife; the only other female character is his child granddaughter. No women are bitten or otherwise fangishly victimized anywhere in the piece.
Makes me laugh every time I look at that dvd.

"Secretary" is more drama than comedy, but it also happens to be hilarious. Quirky and witty, too. I'm siding with Best Buy on this one.

I'd say Secretary is extremely twisted, very dark comedy.
...Of course this wouldn't be the first time Fearless Leader and I disagreed.

Being pedantic here, but aren't 99% of the movies in my Blockbuster "foreign"? If you aren't Canadian, you're foreign.
Taking a course in Canadian cinema (feel free to wince, most people do) tends to get me & my fellow students incensed about this sort of thing.

I once saw "Things to do in Denver When You're Dead" sitting in the Action film section of a video store.

I've seen Harry Potter (movie 3# I think, but not 100% sure which HP it was) classed as "Dark suspense" in the +18 section. Erm....Same store had but every single James Bond movie under "comedy"
