Pretty cool... the only soft spot I really felt in the cast of Batman Begins was Katie Holmes. She's cute and all, but always seemed a bit too perky and smily for a nice dark Batman movie.
Apparently it's been confirmed that Maggie Gyllenhaal will be replacing Ms Holmes on the sequel, Dark Knight Returns. Cool!
Anybody else stoked for the next "new" Batman sequel?

Maggie Gyllenhaal? Oh good lord, my brother's going to be over the moon. As for the movie itself, I'm tres excited. The first one was so very very good that this will have a lot to live up to.

I was down for Dark Knight even before I heard this uplifting news.

I'm sorry, I couldn't stand Katie Holmes. No offense to her, it's just that whenever I see her on screen I start humming the Dawson's Creek theme. Maggie Gyllenhaal is one of my favorite young actors and I'm happy she got the role! About the movie itself? Batman is the single greatest superhero to ever be created. (Don't argue with me on this, I will give you very many hard stares and fart in your general direction.) I have waited a long time for this, and I will be at the midnight premiere. In a catwoman costume. I don't care if she's not in it. I look good in a catsuit. PS - Lemme get just one dose of fangirlidge here - Heath Ledger = HoTnEsS. PPS - Posts like this are the main reason why I generally stay away from sugar. But not tonight I guess.

This movie can't come soon enough!
And that's cool that Maggie and her bro. have both been cast in superhero movies. Go team Gyllenhaal.

I can't wait. I think my only concern is that the Joker and Two-Face are both slated to appear... I don't want to see the film fall victim to 2 Villain Syndrome. (And yes, I know Ra's al Ghul and Scarecrow were both in Begins, but Crane's role was relatively minor.) One thing I liked about the original series is that they had Harvey Dent appear in the first movie as a bit of foreshadowing. Of course, they really messed Two-Face up when they DID get to him, but the groundwork was laid, anyway. But we'll see, I'm sure they'll find a way to make it work... definitely have faith in this production team.

I'm more or less hoping that all we see in DKR is Harvey Dent and the terrible explosion that maims him during the climax. Two-Face can show up in the last ten minutes and set up the third film.

Wow, I have not heard anything about this movie yet. I'm afraid that I am too much of a fan of Jack Nichoson's Joker to be too excited about Heath taking over but heck, I'll be seeing it as soon as I can. If it's haly as cool as Begins then it will be awesome.

I'm totally looking forward to this movie. Judging by the utter success of the first, the second will be amazing. About the movie itself? Batman is the single greatest superhero to ever be created. (Don't argue with me on this, I will give you very many hard stares and fart in your general direction.) I don't mean to digress, but Batman? I mean, he's easily the best DC Comics hero. Easily. But there is no way on an Earth that is still spinning that The Dark Knight beats your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Spidey would own Bats for free...

I want to be excited for this. The change from Katie Holmes to Maggie Gyllenhaal is very welcome as far as I'm concerned. But all I can manage is being cautiously optimistic. I just don't want to get my expectations too high.
I mean, I didn't even feel safe with 'Begins until the movie was almost over.

I always look forward to a new Batman movie. I even enjoyed the last several Bat-flicks because they reminded me of the old Adam West series which I just loved.

I'm excited too, Heath might be a good Joker but i always thought James Marsters from "Buffy" would have been a better one.

But would James Marsters be able to do anything other than rehash Spike? It's not a knock against him or anything, I'm not familiar enough with his acting range to criticize him, I'm simply curious if he couold have seperated them into two distinctly different characters.

I was stoked for this movie until the Heath Ledger as the joker thing came about if anyone other than Nicholson should ever play the joker than it should be
Crispin Glover
