i was totally down on this, then the new laurie and malcolm mcdowell being cast was like "oh, wait, this could be fun."
now, having seen the teaser trailer, i'm almost thinking this could be fun.
although the early script reviews (which were largely negative) worry me, as do reports that the actual halloween night stalking portion is like the last 30 minutes of the film, if that. nooo!

It's Rob Zomebie. It will be over the top gore with some sweet dialog just like his last two films. I doubt it will be close to the original but then again that's not what I'm looking for anyway.

Having just watched the trailer on youtube and being a fan of the original I can say I am stoked.

What's with the Hannibal-esque, girl carrying part?
I'll have no good expectations, but I'll probably end up renting it anyway. I hope it stays closer to '80s Slasher (1978 is '80s-ish) and doesn't go over into '70s Explotation.

actually, the girl-carrying part is directly lifted from the original (when he's carrying annie's body into the house from the garage, and little tommy looks out the window and sees it all).
that part helped me think "oh, this just might be both respectful AND good!"
still, though: *spoiler* i think spending about 2/3 of the film (so i've heard) on showing how young michael deals with an abusive family life, builds up to killing his sister, and then interacts with dr. loomis in the mental hospital sounds awful. the original was so stream-lined that it's almost shocking to return to it and see how much they accomplished.

Okay, that explains it. I'm going to have to go back and watch the first one again. It's, apparently, been too long.
