Wow. One of my favorites of the year. Almost beats 300. Go see this, or you are a failure.

It was fantastic. I didn't laugh consistently all the way through like I did with SotD, but the laughs that do come are really really big. I liked it a lot, and will probably go see it again. I'd been hearing to not get your hopes up because it wasn't as good as SotD - and it isn't - but I was still very pleased.

I saw it last night and I'd say it was almost better than SotD.
Where SotD was a parody of zombie movies, HF takes the cop action flics to task. I would say it had more gore than SotD if you can believe it. But I laughed more often than I did during SotD. I found the action movie homages priceless. Still great chemistry between Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.

Very much enjoyed it. I think I liked the fact that it ramped the laughs UP instead of starting high and going down (like I felt Shaun of the Dead did). Yarp!

Saw it for the first time today (with DarthMadler, along for his second viewing). My own quote upon stumbling out of the theater:
"I never thought I'd laugh that hard at the sight of an old woman's nose being broken, but here we are!"
I quite liked it, although I think I'll remain a Shaunite. I need to ponder on why that is for a while.

Nick and Simon did not disappoint. The movie is crazy-cool. Thanks to this website I've found out about Shaun of the Dead and Spaced, saw them and liked them both. Hot Fuzz is a great addition to the series of films wrote by these guys. I dunno if it's quite fair to compare Hot Fuzz to Shaun of the Dead since they kinda have different subjects. I don't think it's better or worse than Shaun of the Dead, it's just a really good fun movie. I've enjoyed the various connections to Shaun of the Dead also things like the sounds of the pinball machine (I think) is the same as that from SotD and the fact that Nick's character is still hooked on Cornettos. I think it has a pretty high quotability factor also, and I can barely wait to see the mutant reviews for this gem of a movie. And come on, a farmer with an armory in his shed that would put to shame some countries, and an unexploded World War I sea-mine That is just plain cool. Have any of you noticed the abundance of the number 9 ? I thought it a bit weird but it didn't amount to anything in the end, I think.

In the UK, instead of 911, the emergency phone service is 999. So for a police station to have an evidence room combo of 999 is pretty funny.

It makes a lot more sense now, thanks Pooly. I think they needed an easy number to remember considering how often they used the evidence room.
