Hey! It's not too late to start... so, tell us, what are your summer predictions for:
* All-around best movie (not highest grossing) * Biggest stinker * Dark horse sleeper hit

BEST MOVIE: The Simpsons Movie (probably won't be the case, but I'm hoping it'll happen) STINKER: Where to begin? Rush Hour 3, Daddy Day Camp, Hostel Part 2...but if I had to pick one, it would have to be the Nancy Drew movie. Blech. SLEEPER HIT: Knocked Up. It's the same cast and crew that were behind the 40 Year Old Virgin, and from what I've heard, it's really good. Doesn't seem like much of a blockbuster, though. I'll also throw the Halloween remake out there as a back-up prediction.

Sleeper hit: I'm pulling for "Knocked Up", "Superbad", "Rocket Science", and "Hairspray". All around best: "The Ten", "Stardust", "Knocked Up", "Hairspray" Bomb: Not to pick on kiddie flicks, but "Underdog", "Daddy Day Camp", "Bratz", "Transformers"
Most of the big blockbusters and sequels are leaving me pretty cold this time around. I couldn't care less about seeing more pirates, Bourne, Shrek... Yawn.

All-Around Best: I'll run with StarOpal's "Stardust" suggestion. It certainly seems to be this summer's most original movie, and one of the only ones dealing outright with fantasy (other than "Shrek The Third", and without pirate or Mechanical trappings). The new Pixar film "Ratatouille" could be fun if you can stomach the idea of rats running around a French restaurant.
Bomb: Was a "Rush Hour 3" really necessary? Was a "Rush Hour 2" necessary? And while I know many people around here adore "Transformers," if the movie doesn't make the fans happy, it may be killed by word of mouth alone.
And as fond as I am of very girl-oriented franchises like "Nancy Drew" and "Care Bears," they are not the stuff summer blockbusters are made of. I imagine both will do better on video, where their core audience is more likely to see them.
Sleeper Hit: "Hairspray," one of the few movies this summer ("Stardust" is another) I'm genuinely dying to see.

There's a Care Bears movie? Must update the sequels thread...
BTW the full title is Care Bears: Oopsy Does It!
You've got to be kidding me....

Whew, I finally got to sit down and think about this.
Best: The Bourne Ultimatum The first two blew me away, even when I thought I knew what to expect, and with Paul Greengrass directing again I'm super-psyched for the new one.
Stinker: Evan Almighty It might do decent bank, but I can't imagine this is anything other than a big budget DTV sequel that managed to wrangle a talented leading man.
Sleeper: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer People have started to come around to this one with the latest bunch of trailers, but I've said for months I think it's gonna defy a whole lotta expectations.
Cult Hit: 1408 While I realize nothing with John Cusack in it is gonna stay 'cult' for long, I have a feeling this is gonna come and go in the summer rush and explode on DVD. Or maybe I'm just hoping and praying for a decent SK page-to-screen translation.
