Now that we've seen the first real trailer, I was wondering what everyone's feeling are concerning the next Batman film. If you weren't so sure about Heath Ledger as the Joker, where do you stand now? And if, like me, you felt that Nolan knew what he was doing, has your faith been validated? For me personally, the new trailer just makes me even more excited about this film. I am a big fan of Nolan's vision for Batman, and I definitely like this more realistic, scary, sadistic, and disturbing version of the Joker. His new-found fascination with knives seems pretty creepy. Ledger's performance seems to me at least, to be spot-on. I am shocked by how he disappears in the role. His body language, in particular, strikes me as perfect. (I love the way he seems surprised and excited by the kick of the rocket launcher he fires in the trailer. You just know that the Joker would act like that). But, this is my opinion. I've always wanted Batman movies to be firmly rooted in a realistic vision, but I can see how this would not please everybody. What's your opinion?

After seeing the trailer and the footage on the IMAX version of I Am Legend, I have to say that I am somehow even more excited for The Dark Knight than I was before.
So, basically, I can't wait.

I am in love with the trailer and confirmed my approval of Heath as the joker even more. I haven't always approved but he won me over with this movie. My only problem is, I half to wait till the summer to see it.

I'm going to have to wait until the final product's ready to go... I didn't dislike the trailer (and hey, it got me to want to see the movie, so mission accomplished), but it didn't exactly grab me, either.
Maybe a little too much reveal of the Joker too quickly? I dunno...

Maybe a little too much reveal of the Joker too quickly? That's what first came to mind when I saw the trailer. But that's more of a criticism of the entire marketing campaign up to this point rather than just this trailer. They've been showing off so much about the Joker so far that it would be weird to try being coy about him in the trailer. I was also impressed by the IMAX preview. Good, wholesome, twisted drama.

I'm still undecided about Ledger's role as The Joker. I'm quite a vehement fan of the comic and I feel that even though he may do a good job in terms of acting the part, I completely disliked the costuming/make up of the Joker. They've made him look like any old psycho from the n number of 'psycho with guns' type of movies. I mean, where's the Green hair for God's sake!? And even the facepaint looks highly shabby. But otherwise it seems to be on track for a good movie. The bike in the trailer looks yummy! And there's already a plus point in the fact that Maggie Gyllenhaal is the lead lady, rather than the appalling Katie Holmes.
