Seriously, FOX is *on* this year. First the hilarious "Arrested Development", then the flawed-but-has-potential-and-a-great-cast "Cracking Up", and now the effing brilliant "Wonderfalls".
I don't know if you saw the commercials for it or not, but they don't do it justice anyways. It's about a sarcastic underachiever who works in a souveneir shop at Niagra Falls. Then one day inanimate objects start talking to her and telling her to do things.
Sounds weird, and it is, but it's genius, I swear. Funny, funny stuff. It's like "Daria" meets "Joan of Arcadia" but it's greater than the sum of its parts. I'm sure the show will be cancelled forthwith as it is too great to last long, but check it out if you get the chance. You won't regret it.

Wanted to. Forgot to set the VCR. Crap! Have to wait till it goes into reruns this summer, like I did with Scrubs. Or gets cancelled after 2 episodes, like I did with Clerks.

Yes, the Fox network: constantly coming out with the most innovative and watchable new shows of the year, and then brutally cancelling them two weeks later when they don't do as high in the ratings as My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancee.
Interesting, if weird, show. Dunno where it's going, but it's at least entertaining. The main characters is one of those types that I'll watch and root for -- on TV -- but if I met her in real life, I'd loathe how self-centered and rude she is.

"You need to stop kissing the mirror, buddy! Just because some girl isn't liking your chili doesn't mean...did you always have that goiter?"

Got a chance to catch the repeat of the pilot episode last night. Liked it. Some good humor, and just quirky enough for most of us iconoclasts. I can see the potential for it to get formulaic rather quickly -- talking inanimate objects tell Jaye what to do, Jaye does what she thinks they want, things don't work out, trouble ensues, things resolve in an unexpected way and it turns out the objects were right all along -- so I'm hoping (and optimistic) that they've got ideas for more twists and turns in the plots and format of the show. I agree with Justin that if I encountered Jaye in real life, she'd strike me as exactly the kind of pretentious "I'm too smart and cynical for everything" person that I can't stand, but watching her on TV is good for some entertainment. Wonder if she's actually going to return the brass monkey, or if it's going to be a running joke where the therapist keeps trying to get her to return it, but she never will as long as it keeps talking. Also wondering if the objects that talk are going to keep changing every episode; I was kind of fond of the smooshed lion. Hoping we get some more character development soon on the love interest, too; so far he just seems like the generic geeky-cute, in-real-life-would-be-a-ladies-man-but-in-TV-Land-is-the-misunderstood-smart-funny-but-strange-guy-with-the-heart-of-gold, if only Jaye would open her eyes and see him. Awwww. Oh yeah, and if MY parents ever asked me when was the last time I had an orgasm, I think I'd have to change my identity and move. Yikes... -D, suggesting that a limit be imposed on Kyle's references to Grant Morrison to twice a year...

So, Wonderfalls has been moved to a new night. After 3 episodes. "Tune in Thursdays, kids, at least for this week!" Hmmmm... -D

It's official; "Wonderfalls" is cancelled, effective immediately. The fifth episode which was scheduled for this upcoming week will never air. I'm miffed.
I guess this is just karma for all those Audrey Seiler jokes I've been making.

That's... surprising. They let Firefly go at least 8 weeks before giving it the axe. And considering Wonderfalls got a really good review in EW and there's been some buzz, you'd have thought Fox would've stuck with it.
Tho I've looked around and I can't find any news articles about it.

I'm really surprised. I mean, "Arrested Development" gets horrible ratings, too, but they've hung onto that because of all the good reviews. And even the mediocre "Cracking Up" hasn't gotten the axe yet due to ratings. But apparently "Wonderfalls" did really bad on THursday, probably because no one knew it got moved. But apparently it got even worse ratings than "Tru Calling". Life just isn't fair.
But considering that "My big fat Greek Life" and "Celebrity Mole Hawaii" got DVD releases, there is hope for a "Wonderfalls" DVD. They already had a full 13 ep season shot which the creator says is a satisfying story ark and is surprisingly satisfying when just left @ those 13.

This just in: FOX is starting production on a "Wonderfalls" DVD due in part to a large online campaign. The set is expected to have all 13 eps, commentaries, and the whole works. Should be out in time for Christmas.
