So does anyone watch this? I'm not a Stargate fan, but this remake is fairly decent if a bit stilted as it's early first season. Nothing astoundingly different, but it is an easy watch and has moments of space-blasting excitement, which is crazy-good.
Plus, Boomer is so darn cute.

Yeah, I've been keeping up. Never saw the mini-series but I'm quite intrigued. I particularly enjoy what they've done with Baltar's character.
Other than that I'd say that is has the most impressive CG I've seen in a while, very realistic.

I've been watching it, and it's some of the best sci-fi I've ever seen (and I date all the way back to 'Project UFO' and 'Space 1999'). The special effects are cinematic in quality, the acting is very high-caliber, and the writing, while still feeling its way, is never lazy or sloppy. Nobody involved in this project is approaching it with the sadly common attitude of 'well, it's only sci-fi, so who cares'. It's presented primarlily as a straight drama, and this makes it even more effective as science fiction. It not only makes you think, it makes you want to think. Television without Pity has recaps up and forums avaliable if you want to get a broader reaction.

I was flipping through the stations over the weekend, and saw that USA was running a mini-marathon, with the new series. I caught about 3/4 of one of the episodes, and made the mistake of surfing during the commercials. I came across The Muppets Take Manhattan, and Lissa happened to hear it from her office (I had surround sound on, which was a good thing for Battlestar Galactica, but a bad thing for the commercial surfing). Well, she came out of her office, and made me watch the rest of it.
But, I'm going to have to start watching the series - I liked the miniseries, and what I've seen of the show thus far has looked pretty decent.

Sorry, the original post was typed in ignorance. I realized too late what I had written was wrong and didn't know how to just delete the post so I just changed it.

So is anybody still watching this? In the last 12 days I've gone through 23 episodes on DVD, a three hour miniseries, 15 commentaries, and paid $1.99 for the last episode at apple.com to catch up in time for friday's show. While I admittedly don't watch lots of tv, I'll hazard the statement that this is the best program on the air right now. I certainly know that I haven't been this sucked into television since the first seasons of the X-Files. Even Lost, as fantastic as it is, hasn't grabbed me this way. The characters are so complex and intelligently drawn and the pace is so unrelentingly solid that I can't get enough. Anybody else? Comments? Arguments? Beefs?

Yes! I watched the first episode of the new season and must say I'm very impressed with the character developments. Particularly with how it was done. Just giving us snippets throughout the episode of the relationship between the XO and the Admiral really caught my curiosity.
I've always been impressed by how this show is done. The special effects are done in a way that gives it more realism than say Star Trek. Intriguing (sic?) motives for both sides of the conflict. The good guys aren't all necessarily good and the bad guys aren't all necessarily evil.
I think this will be only show I will try to follow regularly this year. In fact it's the only show I've tried to watch regularly in the last couple of years.

Wow, so that was the first episode that didn't totally blow me away. Maybe it was because of Lucy Lawless' guest spot.
However, somewhere along the line it was mentioned that there are twelve human modelled cylons, has anyone kept track of how many we've seen so far?

Because Lucy Lawless's guest spot was so indescribably awesome? Or beause you didn't like it? I think she's brilliantly evil, and I've finally been convinced of her acting chops. Go Lucy! (unless Madler didn't like her...)
As far as Cylons: We have Tricia Helfer as Six, Sharon's an Eight, D'Anna's a Three, and Doral (Kevin Spacey Guy) is a Five. Also, less prominently, is the greasy guy from the miniseries, I think his name is Leoben, and Simon, the black doctor that appeared in one episode. I don't think they've been given numbers yet. So six of the twelve have been revealed so far, and I have to believe we're going to see another one next week. Jacob at TWOP seems pretty convinced that the president's new aide is a Cylon, which would be cool.
As for last week's episode, you're right that it didn't have the mind-blowing quality that most of them have. The two-parters they've done in the past really do a good job of bringing things to a head before cutting you off, while this one just sort of... stopped. But since we have a full 90 minute season ender (yay!) coming Friday, I expect they'll make up for it in spades. They have a good track record with this. There were some great moments though, the opening with Chief and Cally scared the the jeebus out of me, and I liked the return to Caprica, those segments were some of my favorites from Season 1 and I've missed them. I was also happy to see Racetrack back on the show, and Carousel (though not an actual person we've seen before, I don't think, he/she was at least a familiar callsign they've thrown back and forth) was killed off in a subtle-yet-hardcore way. And Baltar, ah Baltar. Has there ever been a slimier, more spineless villian that you just want to hug?
Ah, Battlestar, why does no one believe me that you're the best show on tv? I'm definitely stoked for Friday.

I didn't really have a problem with Lucy Lawless other than the way they promoted her as some way to get more people to watch the show.
Another thing I'm noticing which slightly baffles me is that in spite of living in Vancouver, where the series is filmed, I seem to be seeing the episodes a week after everyone on the BSG forums. It kind of sucks because I like to see what people have to say about the episodes but have to watch for spoilers.
As for Baltar, yeah, he makes such a sympathetic villian. I think the line that sums him up for me is when he states that he is on nobody's side but his own. I will be very curious to see what ultimately happens to him.
