Oh, heck with it. My guilty pleasure is American Idol, and I'm sure there are others of you out there.
So, what do you think so far? This week was a snooze-fest for me. Was it slow-boring-song week and I missed the memo? Sheesh. (Although Chris was awesome last night.)
Anyone else out there watch this one?

I think the wrong person was voted off last week...I mean, melissa had talent, but what are Kevin and Kelly still doing there? We'll see how it goes tonight I guess...

I know some really strange people who like this show, the sort you'd expect to hate the show. Me - I just don't get it and can't be bothered to watch it. What I have seen has bored me. But overall, this show has blown right by me and I don't feel as though I missed a thing. I'm also not watching : The Dog Whisperer, Lost, Desperate Housewives, The O.C., 24, Saved, Commander in Chief, Vegas, The Sopranos - you name it.

Congrats, I guess? Although you're missing out on Lost. (Well, maybe not. You might not be as appreciative of a shirtless Sawyer or Sayid as I am.)

I don't know who they are, but I wouldn't watch the show just for shirtless (guys?) people (Sawyer or Sayid sounds like a South Central lawfirm to me).

Well, there's the whole question of faith vs. reality and the mystery of just what the heck the island is and all that, but the shirtless guys are a bonus. (And that was also meant to be a joke.)

You mean, faith vs. reality because they're trapped on an island? You mean, they question their belief in God because they're trapped on an island? Foolish mortals. I suppose they'll learn that they're not the only ones in the world, though I learned that on my first day at school. The teacher plainly said, "and remember boys and girls, you'll meet many different and very exciting people throughout the course of your life. It's just, for a while now, you can't accept candy and free rides from them just because they say your Mommy and Daddy want them to kidnap and hurt you."

There's a lot more going on in Lost than simply that they are marooned on an island.
The island itself has some very...um...strange properties related to some...um...events that occurred there before the airplane crash.
There are polar bears on a tropical island. Visitations from the dead. Weird...um...things that do...um...stuff. There are numbers which have...um...significance to...um...something. There's a bunker that has...um...stuff in it (which gives answers but raises even more questions).
Then there are the back-stories to every character there.
Plus, as Lissa says, there are questions of faith v reality, of the natural v the supernatural... its got it all going on. This is a great show that takes time to develop itself.

Yeah, what he said. It can be hard to talk about Lost because it's something that really shouldn't be spoiled. (And thanks, DTH, for watching the spoilers! We've only seen season 1 so far, and I am DYING for that DVD set to come so we can watch season 2!) But it's really a very complicated show, and very compelling. I really like that the characters are far from black and white- every one of them is a shade of grey. Granted, it's not a show everyone enjoys. My sister thought Duckie was the biggest geek in the world for asking for it for Christmas (even though she got it for him anyway), and that I was tied as the biggest geek for actually watching it. (Although she did waver for a moment when I showed her a picture of Josh Holloway, who plays Sawyer. Heh.) It's definitely geek TV made accessible for everyone... good thing it's not on FOX! (They'd cancel it next season )

And I am not exactly straight, but it takes more than shirtless guys to reel this fish in. I know that if Lost had what I was looking for in a show, I would have started watching it some time ago. That's what I have hip and clever best friends for - to let me know what I'm missing in time for me to catch some of it.

Well, I'll try to bring it back on-topic a bit - I say that Taylor Hackford guy on Regis & Kelly for a minute and I don't think he's that great of a singer.
