Who checked the show Drive last night? It seems to have an interesting premise so far. An illegal cross-country road race bringing different people together. Plus it's great seeing Nathan Fillion on tv again. There's another episode tonight at 8:00 pm, it's regular time before 24. Hopefully this won't go the way of Firefly. Post what you think of this show so far.

I really wanted to see this (mostly because of Nathan Fillion) but missed it. Hooray for the internet!

I caught it, and enjoyed it - I mean, hey, Nathan Fillion? Of course. But I can see where it might get repetetive (drive, reach check point, drive some more) so it's going to have to rely on characters pretty heavily. And if he keeps having hallucinations of his wife, well that could get pretty tricky. They'll have to be really careful with the writing. So I will be, cautiously, giving it a shot.
I did think it was weird how they made 400+ miles sound like some Herculeon effort. I've done 1,500 in two days without millions or lives at stake. It's not that hard.

Bah, I can get from central Wisconsin to western Pennsylvania before I have to find a motel for the night. I've got your measly 350 miles trumped by far, Justin!

I'll trump you both- for our winter training trips in college, the men's and women's swim teams used to pile into vans and drive from Granville (right near Columbus), Ohio down to near Ft. Lauderdale. 1167 miles, according to Mapquest... we left at 4 AM and would get in around 9 or 10 at night. If you were lucky, you were in one of the vans driven by an assistant coach or one of the seniors, and they would stop when you needed to go to the bathroom.
If you were unlucky, you were in the van with the head coach. He would drive until the tank was empty, then stop to refill it... in that time, you had 10 minutes to go to the bathroom. Then you drove till the tank was empty again. You'd stop about 3 times total. Enjoy!
(Practice the next morning, of course. 5:00 sharp!)

I remember once going with a group to take someone back home from a visit. It was from Bowling Green, KY to somewhere not far south of Atlanta, GA - and back. 650 miles according to mapquest.
We didn't start until about 10:00 pm, when everybody was done with school and work. We got back home about 5:00 am. Nobody was allowed to go to sleep in the car. We were all so loopy, it was great.

I did Boise, Idaho to Flagstaff, Arizona (894.2 Mi.) in a little over 14 hours. I was riding the Red Bull quite hard on that trip. Grand total, I did Boise to Enterprise, Alabama in a little over 3 days.

As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't count unless you're the one and only driver. Lightweight! Heh. Fair enough. In my defense, I would have ended up driving one senior year, except there was an incident sophomore year... on their way home, one of our big rival Kenyon College's vans had an accident and a student was killed. After that, colleges nationwide started flying their student-athletes to training destinations instead of making them drive. Sad that it took that to make it happen, but it's definitely the safer alternative. -D

I liked last night's episode. Nathan Fillion's character Alex Tully may have the potential to be darker than Malcolm Reynolds. Melanie Lynskey's character Wendy also seems to have another side to her. I look forward to where they take the series.

For me to drive down from Detroit to Indianapolis is 350 miles. Whew! I'm almost a TV star! Weird. Too weird. I just flew this route TODAY, checked into my hotel room, and saw this post. I had wondered how long it would have taken me to drive it. The answer... longer than the 42 minutes it took to fly it

We're talking about a TV show now? When did this happen? Drive is a new tv series on Fox starring Nathan Fillion and created by Tim Minear, an executive producer and writer for Firefly. This is info from Wikipedia - The series is set across the backdrop of an illegal automobile road race with the central focus being on the competitors and eventually on the puppet masters behind the race. Regarding the tone of the show, Minear has described it as "a secret, illegal, underground road race can be anything from Cannonball Run to The Game to North by Northwest to Magnolia-on-wheels. Ours is all those things." It air Monday at 8:00 pm. Hopefully Fox will give this a chance and it won't be many cancelled like many great Fox shows. Has anyone else checked this show out? What do you think of it? I think it has lots of potential if given the chance.
