Did anyone else catch part 1 of this miniseries on SciFi last night? It is a scifi "reimagining" of The Wizard of Oz starring Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cumming, & Richard Dreyfuss. Thus far I really like it. They are replaying part 1 at 7pm EST, tonight, followed by part 2 at 9.

I was really looking forward to this, so, naturally, I missed it. I can't watch the repeat tonight, either, but will have to try and check it out at some point soon.

I'm in the same boat as Al.
And since I'm already using the VCR for Heroes, I'm gonna hope they re-replay it... again. But I do really wanna see it. *sigh*

I missed about the first hour on account of work, but I have to say from what I did catch that I'm. . .hesitant.
I wouldn't call it bad by any means, but certain elements prevent me from holding it lovingly to my doughy bosom. For one thing, the steampunk genre just doesn't do a thing for me. Never has. On top of that, Zooey Deschanel's acting borders on aggressively bad.
However, I will give kudos to Tin Man for shooting down my snarky preconceptions like Heavyarms to a missile barrage (I like for my metaphors to be understood by as few people as possible).
Chief among these was illustrated by my laying bets with myself as to just how gay this show was going to be. And I don't mean "gay" in any sort of slang capacity; I mean literal homosexual content, blatant or implied.
Let's examine the evidence, shall we?
Strike One--Simply being a modern remake.
Strike Two--The aforementioned steampunk genre.
Strike Three--Alan Cumming, who is as gay as the day is long. And you are correct in guessing that I'm not mature enough to not be bothered by his last name.
I would've added a fourth strike had I known that there were going to be anachronistic, Nazi-evocative goons present.
Continuing on the same-sex tear, my prejudgmental nose is further bloodied, in that, now that it's been revealed that (spoiler) DG and Azkadellia are sisters, (end spoiler) the latter probably won't be making any lesbian overtures to the former. Hopefully not, I should say. My depravity only goes so far, you know.
And hey, if you think I'm just being weird or that it was something I was initially hoping for, that's a perfectly logical assumption. However, I would encourage you to also peruse Hezekiah Peabody's Big Book of Cliches. Specifically, the Femme Fatales chapter, Villianess section, under the heading titled "In event of the capture of a female protagonist." It's right there.
EDIT: Sorry for forgetting to black out the spoiler text initially. I hope I didn't ruin anything for anybody.

so, on the whole, it ended up being really predictable, but I enjoyed it, anyway- it was a fun time. Plus, I have a little girlcrush on Zooey Deschanel. There are going to be ridiculous quantities of reruns, so anyone who missed it should be able to catch up, if interested... Huckle- it's a reimagining of The Wizard of Oz... how could it NOT be gay?

I have to admit that my outlook on the show was a lot more positive from the second episode on. I think it was Glitch's unexpected Wushu skill that brought me over.
I also like--and this is also somewhat of a spoiler, but not a particularly significant one--how Tin Man, in relation to the original Wizard of Oz, is revealed to be an FE, rather than an AU (Future Era and Alternate Universe, respectively. Or iron and gold, if you prefer).

They show the "preview" for this before every movie at the theater I work at, and I must say, it looks like the worst idea ever.
