Eh, I have issues with MMO games, namely that they charge you $50 some dollars to but the game, and then you get charged a monthly fee on top of that... I don't see what the problem is with the monthly fee. I play Everquest roughly 4 hours a day (that's a conservative number). Which works out to 120-124 hours a month. You name something that I can get 120 hours of enjoyment a month out of, for only 13 dollars. Hell you can't even go to the movies for 13 bucks. Not if you want to go in the evening and get popcorn anyway. But in answer to the question at hand. I play Everquest and played Star Wars Galaxies for about a month.

Well, if that works for you, then you're right, your enjoyment per dollar is pretty good. Good for you. But the only things I spend more than 120 hours per month doing are sleeping and working, and those are completely involuntary (well, working is). I tend to think that playing ANY game for 4 hours a days is a pretty bad habit to get into. And yes, I have been there.

I gotta agree there...back in my prime playing days (namely college) I was usually good for 2 hours a day maybe 4 or 5 days a week. But once you own a house time gets throw out the window. If your not working to pay for the house your working on the house to make it look better. I play more now mainly because I got laid off and replying old games is one of the cheapest activities I can think of (ok, I did break down and buy FF Origins last week). I just can't sit and play a single game for hours anymore...that's why I don't think I could ever get into a MMRPG...I like online FPS's but the amount of cheating (not to mention my outdated hardware) preclude me from joining in on them.

I recently got computer that is actualy able to withstand playing games on the net. I've been playing... - Diablo II
- Rainbow Six; Rouge Spear and
- Star Wars; Jedi Academy
But before it, I was playing a game called Tibia. It's a graphical MUD. Decent enough. Tibia.com If you play or wanna start paying, im on Nova, Message Abane for a lil' help ;D.

My guild is doing well in Star Wars Galaxies, but I'm poor and can't afford the game, can't afford the play fee, and can't afford the high speed connection.
I reactivated my Dark Age of Camelot account and I'm having fun with that again. Though, because of some financial restraints, I might have to cancel the account again. Which makes me sad.

Oh, and for the record, Tibia is free to an extent, until you want to go premuim and pay, not stipulation though.

I play Everquest a few hours a week on the weekends. I stopped for a long time b/c of the money but I just needed a game to play and this was easier than buying and learning something new.
I'm having a hell of a time finding buyers for the crappy silver jewelry I make though. And while I was gone a lot of things changed, so half of this is new to me again.

I'm having a hell of a time finding buyers for the crappy silver jewelry I make though. A friend of mine does that (although hers is not of the crappy variety, so mileage may vary), and she's had a ton of success on ebay. She even sometimes just sells coordinated metal and beads (totally unfinished product) and people even snap that up. So who knows?

I thought they stopped EverQuest items sales on e-bay.

<goes back and reads previous post more carefully>
OHHHH.
No, I thought you meant you were making REAL, physical jewelry, which is what I meant. I don't know anybody who plays EQ, much less makes any kind of living off of it.
I thought that was a weird tangent.

I thought they stopped EverQuest items sales on e-bay. Yes they did stop Everquest sales on E-Bay. You can still buy/sell items on other sites such as, playerauctions.com and mysupersales.com. A friend of mine makes a couple hundred a month selling in-game platinum. Which I think is pretty sad. That people would pay real money for game money. Somewhere on the internet, I'm too lazy to look, there is a guy who did an economy report on EQ. If memory serves the Norrath (EQ world) platinum piece, as a monetary unit, was stronger than both the Japanese yen and the Italian lira. Norrath also had a per cappita GNP higher than India and China.

Hmm, sad maybe but all I hear is "a couple hundred a month." Any idea the quantities he sells and for what price?

All I know is that I don't want to bother spending any monthly fee for that game, let alone spending more money for in-game stuff.
I'm going to have to admit it: People are crazy.

Hmm, sad maybe but all I hear is "a couple hundred a month." Any idea the quantities he sells and for what price? He usually deals in smaller amounts. Maybe 10K of platinum. That way he can get the little guys that don't want to purchase 100K. No clue what he is selling it for now. The price goes up and down all the time.

I just may have to get into that. I wonder how fast I'd make money if I did nothing else but hunt for the heads of green goblins (best money I've found so far).
