I didn't know anyone else played DAoC on here. What server do you play on Druid?

I'm on Bedevire. My main character is named Dulidina. With all my alts played off of that name. All starting with Duli. So there's Duli, Dulisa, and Dulika. heh.
Oh, and in Midgard.

I tried the one week demo of DAoC and really didn't get past the first day. I think it was the awkwardness of lurching back in technology and game design -- after trying out AO and FFXI -- and I never like feeling lost at the beginning of a game.

Well, Penny Arcade (or really Tycho) is just loving World of Warcraft. Those screen shots he posted just look incredible. But I think it's your typical Level Treadmill Game, so it probably won't be everyone's cup of tea. I think it look interesting though.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I applied for the Beta, but so far, no luck. It's okay, so far it looks like a very polished game that has fun in mind, and that's what I'm looking for. I think they're gonna be much more successful based on being more quest driven than open ended, because I think guiding without forcing is what a lot of people are looking for.
I'm not making it out in my mind as the be-all, end-all of online gaming, but I will make a gnome engineer who makes exploding sheep, and that's enough for me.

Tycho put up a longer post about WoW down at the bottom of the page: www.penny-arcade.com/news.php3?date=2004-03-22The death system sounds pretty cool. And it seems like they've try to make is so people without heavy duty computers can play without too much lag, which is totally cool.

FYI, Lineage II is starting a free Open Beta next week on the 28th. It'll last a month. Don't know how good this game is, but hey, free playing time is free playing time. www.lineage2.com/

Sweetness. I'm in. At least it's something to pass the time until City of Heroes sends me my beta invitation.

oooh, I was able to get in too. What's the difference between West Coast and Eest coast downloads? I'm in Texas, so I wasn't sure which one would be best for me.

Last Thursday night, after over four months of personal anticipation of WoW and the realization that the game is still many months away and there's not a terrific chance I'll get into the closed beta, I reinstalled Anarchy Online Shadowlands to give it a second whirl. Call me weak, call me bored, but I needed a MMORPG fix and I didn't want to "spoil" my initial WoW introduction by having played a fantasy-themed MMORPG for a number of months. AO isn't 100% different, but I loved the sci-fi elements and it's just cool to pack two oversized pistols and enhance your body with cybernetic implants.
Anyway, my first AO experience was back last Octoberish, when I played for maybe a week and a half before giving up. AO has a billion things to learn and master (not very newbie friendly, but they're getting better at helping out new players) and I certainly didn't tap into 25% of the potential for the game before calling it quits. I'm glad I gave it a second chance, because it's become a lot of fun. I've got a level 30 adventurer after three days who has a ton of combat options so I'm not just sitting around waiting for combat to end. A higher level player took pity on me and bought me some very cool pistols as a present, which was nice.
I think what really got me off AO last time was just seeing it as a boring level grind -- which it is, but I didn't see past that. The teaming is effortless (FFXI, I'm glaring in your direction), the character-building perks and nano (magic) programs and combat options are very plentiful, and there are quests to lead you through the semi-linear Shadowlands.
Since last October, they've made a number of patches to the game, and it got a lot better -- particularly the gardens (your save/teleport spot), which are easier to use. Worth your time, if you're looking for something different than the typical fantasy MMORPGs out there, and if you have a question about it, float it my way.

it's just cool to pack two oversized pistols and enhance your body with cybernetic implants. For instance, most people don't know that, in real life, Justin has a cybernetic waffle maker installed on his body. Just don't ask where.

I played, and by played I mean became extremely frustrated and gave up after an hour, Lineage II over the weekend. The newly opened beta made it a tad chaotic. People were being rude. I could never find my trainer. There was lag. The controls were kind of annoying, I thought. (but I prefer 1st person view than 3rd person) So overall, wasn't very impressed. And I'm going to be busy this week working on my kitchen so I probably won't be playing again until this weekend. It's probably just a waisted Beta account at this point though.
I've also been play Team Fortress like CRAZY. Love it, love it, love it!

I have not heard promising things about Lineage II, unless you really need a hot mostly-nude elf avatar in your life.

Typically youll find me playing Madden 04, MLB04 or NFS - underground...but given the typical "quitter" attitude of most of the people that play those games for PS2 online, i rarely go on there...
After reading about some of the games in this thread though, im gonna be looking in a little while at some branching out of my online sports genre and move into the rhelm of more involved games...my friend tried to get me into Everquest but i couldnt get into the story or anyting and that lasted about 2 days...some of these other games though seem very interesting.
