Well, I have to admit, it's tough to argue with that.
And for the record, I'm playing The Bard's Tale and X-men: Legends, both of which kick serious butt.

Lately I've been mashing the buttons of the old Game Cube with Super Smash Bros. Melee. A classic in my mind that I will always be able to pick up, dust off, and play over and over again. Side note: Kicking your siblings butts at these kind of games is a sweetness that knows no bounds.
[EDIT: see, the "quote" button is right next to the "modify" button and, uh, never mind. Sorry.]

The new Timesplitters kicks some serious butt. I mean, I guess there's not a whole lot that sets it apart from the the first or the second, other than a slightly more coherent story, but Timesplitters has always been hella fun anyway. Definitely the best multiplayer experience I've had in quite a long time, and according the reviews I've read, possibly the most comprehensive multiplayer mode on the market. Coming fully equipped with state-of-the-art monkey zombies (oh yes...), anyone who even remotely enjoys FPSes needs to give this a rent.

My friends and I are still playing the original Smash Brothers, just as we did in college 3 years ago. (And it wasn't new then.) But maybe it's time to finally invest in a 'Cube; I really do want to play Melee at some point. And you're right about that sweetness- it's just as good when it's your friends. Whenever that hammer comes out, hoo baby... -D

Here lately, I've been playing a nifty cowboyish title called Dead Man's Hand. I've been clamoring for a good Western-style FPS ever since I beat Lucasarts' Outlaws about six years ago. I clamor no longer.

I've been playing Simpsons Hit N' Run. All the open endedness of GTA, none of the violence and guilt, and nonstop Simpsons related humour to boot. Sweet!

I forgot to mention in my last post that Dead Man's Hand is one of only two games I've played that manages to utilize Ragdoll Physics and actually make it work well. The other is Far Cry; also a galdurned cool game.

I would just like to also throw my kudos at Dead Man's Hand. It's cheap, fun, western-ish-ness, and, to my surprise, I liked it better than Red Dead Revolver, which cost thirty bucks more.
I'm currently having a blast playing Jade Empire, which, as Justin mentioned in the newsletter, is seriously worth your time. Find an Xbox. Buy, borrow, steal. Play this game. And when I get tired of psuedo-Chinese mythology, I have my Xbox-port Doom 3 (complete with Doom 1 & 2!) to satiate my masculine bloodlust. Huzzah!

I would just like to also throw my kudos at Dead Man's Hand. It's cheap, fun, western-ish-ness, and, to my surprise, I liked it better than Red Dead Revolver, which cost thirty bucks more. I only had 2.5 quibbles with it. I had to patch it right away to get it to even work, it's a bit on the short side (maybe), and it seems to actually get progressively easier (except for the house-defending level), likely due in large part to the advent of the more butt-kickrous weapons (I want a Huntley Thunder of my very own). Speaking of weapons; the selection is somewhat slim--nine total, not counting your trusty knife, dynamite, and whiskey bombs--and you can only carry three at a time. Chalk that up to realism, I suppose. Oh, and the main character, El Tejon, tends to chafe after a while. His fudgy, overdone accent makes me wish he were more stoic. So, yeah. Up to this point, I've listed nothing but negatives, and yet I'd enthusiastically rank this game at 8 out of 10 rating icons of your choice. Giving a bad guy both barrels of the Overland Express and watching him go cartwheeling through the air takes a long time to get old.

And we let this thread founder to die? For shame!
Well, on top of putting in a couple hours at night with World of Warcraft, I've had some spare time for these:
* Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines -- I'm not a big vampire fan (obviously), but this got fairly good reviews as Troika's last RPG, and I'm enjoying it so far. Dark, interesting characters, great scenery, sort of like a more disturbing KOTOR in a way.
* Star Wars: Empire at War demo -- anyone try this? I canNOT wait for this to release, it looks like such a perfect blend of strategy and RTS in the Star Wars universe.
On the horizon: Keeping a watchful eye on Elder Scrolls: Oblivion (as I'm sure Shalen is, with her Morrowind addiction) and perhaps -- perhaps -- D&D Online. Neverwinter Nights 2 looks pretty cool, too.

Lately I've been mashing the buttons of the old Game Cube with Super Smash Bros. Melee. I'm not an avid gamer, but I have played this'un. And it's quite fun, I will say. Even though my video game-addicted friends kept kicking my sorry butt at it.

The Empire At War demo is fun as anything, but most of the advance reviews have been mixed. I'm still holding out hope for awesomeness, however.
I'm also playing Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, which, as advertised, brings the franchise back to it's former glory after the tedius departure of The Warrior Within.
And on Xbox, I'm wending my way through Gladius again, with the intention to finish the game come hell or highwater. A great game, I just can't seem to see it through. But this time wil be different! Really, I swear.

PC: We bought the Neverwinter Nights Diamond set and I'm working my way through that (husband finished kingmaker yesterday..) Also have the newest Civ on the list...
PS2: I'm disgruntled. Halfway through Dragonquest VIII the disc went kabut. Took it back and exchanged it only to have PS2 go kabut. So I'm still working on that, plus have Prince of Persia 1 to start...
XBOX: XMen:Legends...halfway through, Jade Empire..I'm at the beginning...

Anyone else know anything about Chrome?
I'd completely go for another sci fi game. Haven't played one in a long time after disappointment of Deus Ex 2. (Lame.)

Resident Evil 4. I've played all of the "regular" RE games (0-3, Code: Veronica) and enjoyed them, but man, this game really emphasizes how much in need of a shot in the arm the franchise was. Completely new engine, and damn, those enemies are hard... not used to dying at anything other than boss battles in RE games, but then again, these guys are about three times as fast as zombies. Really enjoying it so far. Next up: Silent Hill 4.
