I'm not usually a video game person, but right now in this program I'm in I'm creating a text-based adventure game. The instructor keeps wanting me to make it more challenging, so I put a maze in there that is so complicated that no one will love me after they play it. Muahahahaaaa...
Anyone else ever created a text-based game? I feel dumb for asking, but I'm actually proud of myself because I'm not a "techie" like some of the people in here.

Yes, ask any gamer what they love most about a good video game, and I'm sure "complicated maze" will pop right up in their mind.
I used to create a lot of games way back when in BASIC and also using text adventure creation programs. Fun stuff.

It's been years, but after Zork came out, I seem to recall trying to put together a few in BASIC as well.
Oh, the simple life, with my C64 ;D

I'm hoping to do this class for my final project in a couple of weeks. Of course, I'm not working too hard. We're doing Javascript now, and I'm doing "game research" on the MRFH forums... ;D

I tried to make a space-based strategy game once, but never finished it. I was writing it in Matlab, so probably no one outside my school's engineering or math departments would be able to play it.
Does anyone have that software, in case I do finish it?

I've got access to Matlab, but would probably have a hard time convincing the other engineers that I needed to bump their modeling work, to play an adventure game

Just borrow the cd and install on your home computer.

Update on my game... I'm doing it as my research project, and the title of the research paper is:
"The Mysteries of Avalon: Think Harder Next Time".
