Re-Rail!
I've heard rumblings to the effect that if all of this FF VII revisiting proves to be successful, Square will consider giving the redux treatment to other games in the series, with III/VI being first on deck.
For my part, I'd very much like to see some form of media that delves into the life and times of Shadow. Sure, he may be a shallow character, and representative of an overused archetype, but he's cool, so back off.
And no, a Shadow-based videogame wouldn't be just like Dirge of Cerberus. There'd be ninja stars instead of guns.

Wow.
My initial reaction is: OH. YES. PLEASE.
But then again... a great deal of what I love about FF6/3 has to do with my affection for the SNES itself. A "redux" might be kind of weird. A lot of the storytelling from that game relied on the gamer's imagination to fill in for what the sprites couldn't. The extensive use of FMV in FF7 kind of eliminated that for me.
Hm. I don't know. Where'd you hear this, Bubba?

If I recall correctly, it's was a side note in some Advent Children-related article I read some time back. I'm not sure. I may have imagined the whole thing, truth be told. I tend to not take note of things I read for later recall, I just accept everything as gospel truth without checking sources or anything. That's why I'm pursuing a Journalism degree; so I can do my part to continue the news media's fine tradition of hyperbole-laden inaccuracy. On a somewhat related note: Does anyone remember back in the mid-90s, when the Playstation was just coming on the scene, Square made a brief 3D demo of Locke, Terra, and Shadow fighting some sort of large castle monster? Let me see if I can find something on the 'net, so I won't seem completely kooky. . . Ah, here we are: A Terra who doesn't really look that much like Terra!Sadly, I've never actually seen this thing in motion. But look! Downloads of actual movie clips! Whee!

Don't take that rumour seriously. Even if the FFVII compilation is successful, I don't think they'd do any more for their other FF games, because they've shown they don't have have enough resources to work on many simultaneous projects (FFXII and everything else have been delayed delayed delayed). I think this could only happen if they decide to abandon future FF's. However a FFVII remake seems to be a possiblity now, and if that (without a doubt) sells well, then other remakes are possible, but not for a very long time.
Also, if there was a FFVI movie or remake coming out, I'd want it to be how it was, Amano designs, Uematsu music, and Sakaguchi directing, but those guys are all long gone.
