Well, I LOVE Mega Man, and I was wondering what everybody's favorite Mega Man game was for original NES. If you don't have an NES you can always download a ROM or play them on all systems with Mega Man Anniversery Collection. Okay, let us vote and discuss.

The second game is indisputably the best. I've played and beaten all of them (thank you, Anniversary Collection), and most of the Game Boy and Mega Man X games as well; but while the original MM is fun, II amps it up with better and more original level design, bigger sub-bosses, harder regular bosses, and more challenging overall gameplay. Plus the addition of the three platform items (precursors to Rush) make it the best.
The third one was also really good, but not quite up to II's par, and after that they started getting repetitive. (Skull Man? Dust Man? Centaur Man?)

And I don't mean just within the Mega Man franchise, I mean in the entire spectrum of music. And now I scamper off to make a Mega Man X companion thread.

I was just about to make a post about the music. Mega Man 2 intro song? Awesome.

Definitely 2. I remember haunting our local video store for WEEKS when the guy there said he'd get me a copy of MM2 to buy. Every day, weeks on end. I'd be down there on my bike just dying to get that cartridge...
Awesome game. Blows the rest away.

Throw in another vote for 2. This was the only MegaMan I actually owned. I rented 1 and 3 (and kinda ignored the other ones until X came to the SNES). 1 was just...kinda...primitive. I don't know, I just couldn't get into it and I thought it was way too hard. 3 was pretty nifty (If I had to be any MegaMan boss I'd be ShadowMan) but the end stages were pretty frustrating.
2 just nailed it, man. Nailed it.
