I wonder if they've added a jump button yet. That always bothered me. Neat, though.

I hope not -- the point of BC was that you lacked a typical convention of most platformers (jumping) yet had the bionic arm to help you navigate in different ways. I felt like the limitation they imposed really made BC great.

I already knew about the second link (the full 3D Bionic Commando), and was already pretty stoked about that, but I'm much more of the mind that a fully realized 2D revamp is a MUCH cooler proposition.
Bloody awesome.

I wonder if they've added a jump button yet. That always bothered me. Neat, though. I watched a separate video interview wherein the developers of the 3D game said that jumping capability had been included, but that it was only really useful for clearing small obstacles, and that the arm would still be the player's primary mode of transit. As for the 2D revamp, Capt. Spencer apparently remains a typical white man. I already knew about the second link (the full 3D Bionic Commando), and was already pretty stoked about that, but I'm much more of the mind that a fully realized 2D revamp is a MUCH cooler proposition. Bloody awesome. Considering the order in which I posted the links, you can kind of tell which one I'm more excited about. Sure, the 3D one looks quite wondrous, but if I had to guess, I'd say that my computer is precisely not powerful enough to handle it. But when the 2D revamp comes out for the PC, I will be on that like. . .like something that one would expect to be on some particular second object. Simile is hard.

It was the 'small objects' things that always got to me. Using my bionic arm to clear single barrels always just felt silly.

Still, it's remarkable how video games have taught us over the years that being able to do a standing jump to at LEAST your own full height is an ability all living beings should possess, lest they be considered handicapped.

And also that bullets move slow enough to be dodged, and that merely touching the side of a mobile mushroom will kill you.

Boy, hearing the BC soundtrack in full orchestra is just... riveting. I think back to hearing Zelda: Twilight Princess' massively awesome opening with the London Symphony Orchestra playing what was, at one point, 8 bit bleeps and bloops. I don't think any of the sound programmers thought those addictive little 8-bit chirps would soon grace the eyes of John Williams.
I'm also more interested in the revamp. Also, I laughed so hard when the Cap'm grabbed the guy with his arm, because it looks like he's ballroom dancing with him when he does it.
