I didn't know if this should go in here or video games but, I was thinking, one of my favorite things about video games is the music. So I was thinking about listing my favorite video game themes of all time.
Original Super Mario Theme Super Mario RPG Ending Theme Yuna's Theme (From FFX) Sonic's Theme (From SA2) Chrono Trigger Battle Theme Ragnarok (Airship Theme from FF8. By far the best airship theme of them all)
Any thoughts?

Normally the music is the first thing I turn off in a game so that I can play my own. But the music in Homeworld (the original) matches the game so well.

There was an article in the NY Times a few weeks ago about a band that records and releases old video game music. If I wasn't so lazy (and if I paid the $$ to be able to read archived articles) I'd search for it. Alas, you're on your own.
The only thing I specifically remember was that theys said that some of the music (usually at higher levels or tense times in the game) is so fast that human's can't actually play it.
Okay, I actually did the search. If you're interested, the article is titled "Resurrecting the Riffs, A Nintendo Rock Band," it appeared in the April 29 edition, and the first 50 words are:
edited to add: this brings me up to 200! w00t!

I am usually underwhelmed by video game music, but one of my favorite adventure games, The Neverhood, features a very very awesome soundtrack. There is little dialogue in the game, which gives a great opportunity to show off a musical score. It's not heavy metal or techno, but a blend of dixieland blues and jazz by some guy named Terry Taylor. I'm not really a fan of this genre, but the music brings the game's cartoonish atmosphere to your ears (if that makes sense). But you could listen to the soundtrack on it's own, and get the songs stuck in your head, even though it's only scatting, not singing.
Another adventure game that features an awesome soundtrack is Full Throttle. The soundtrack is done entirely by a blues-metal band called the Gone Jackals. The game is about biker gangs, so the band makes an excellent touch to the game. But like the Neverhood's soundtrack, the music works great on it's own. Luckily I was able to download a few of the songs, and they majorly kick buttocks.
Oh, and the Monkey Island theme rocks, too.
