Pick some of your favorite songs from movies that you think had a really good effect on a particular scene or just on the entire movie in general...
*Cry Little Sister---(Theme From Lost Boys): I just thought it was an eerie goth pop masterpiece that fit the movie perfectly. Not only were the vocals and lyrics creepy, the song features a chorus of zombie like children singing "Thou shal not fall" which is what the half vampires are trying to do, holding on to their humanties instead of falling into the pits of hell if they became full-fledged vamps.
*Miss Misery---Elliott Smith (Featured on Good Will Hunting: The Grammy people finally got it right when they nominated Elliott for best original song in a movie with "Miss Misery." It just fit the somber aching of the movie and how Will didn't know what he wanted, but knew he didn't want to get hurt.
*Shout---Otis Redding and the Pips (Animal House): TOGA, TOGA, TOGA!!! I seriously think that the movie version of the is the best, and it fit the whole craziness of the Delta's last final party with them doing the Aligator and all on the ground. Such a fun movie and scene.
*Where Is My Mind---The Pixies (Fight Club): I just love the Pixies and I just think this song fits the end of the movie perfectly. Dont' ask me why, I just can't envision a better way to end the movie.

Well, Moulin Rouge speaks for itself Everybody Knows (it's Concrete Blonde on the soundtrack, but I'm pretty sure it was the other guy in the movie) in Pump Up the Volume. That's the first song I REALLY started associating with a movie, I think. I Will Survive in In and Out. One of the funniest scenes I've seen in a movie- Kevin Kline dancing around to that. (He looked pretty good in that black T-shirt, too.) And it's cliched already, but I LOVED how they used Halleluia in Shrek. Forgive spelling. It's early and I'm too lazy to look everything up.

Oh god no...that's not cliched. Hallehlujah is like my all-time favorite song, and I love all three versions of it I've heard: Rufus Wainwright, Lenord Cohen, and of course my favorite, Jeff Buckley. You must check out Buckley's version if you love that song Lissa. I think you'd enjoy it if you haven't already heard it.
I definatly agree on Moulin Rouge too. After I saw the movie in theaters I had to rush out and buy the CD the same day. Plus I pulled out all my parents Elton John records to find "Your Song." *sigh* Moulin Rouge is pure musical genius.

I just love this song, matter-of-fact, the whole soundtrack is cool. Along those lines, I really like the soundtrack to The Craft - the covers of "Tomorrow Never Knows" and "How Soon is Now" both worked perfectly for the movie.

I'm Deranged - David Bowie This song is a great beginning and a harbinger of things to come in Lost Highway
Everybody Knows- Leonard Cohen For my part I'll forever associate the song with the Strip-Tease sequence in Exotica
The Future - Leonard Cohen Great ending song for Natural Born Killers (All the songs for this movie where awesomely chosen and placed)
Within You - David Bowie My favourite song from Labyrinth ''I move the stars for no one.''
And finmally two Tarantino favorites which don't even need a comment
Girl You'll be A Woman Soon - Urge Overkill
Stuck In the Middle With You - Steeler Wheels
By The Way I also love Cry Little Sister

I loved Elliott Smith's "Miss Misery", but didn't hear it until I was already a fan. What got me into him was actually his song "Needle in the Hay," which plays in The Royal Tenenbaums, over the scene where Richie attempts suicide.
It's *thumbs-up*. Unfortunately Elliott Smith killed himself last October, so... you know, that sucks.

The whole soundtrack to The Doors, but that kind of doesn't count, does it?
My new-found friends (at Smart-People Camp) and I have been singing the songs from Moulin Rouge and Chicago going to and from meals/classes/socials etcetera.
But when it comes to movie songs, I really love Storybook Love or whatever from The Princess Bride.

That song at the end of Dr. Strangelove- I like how this easy listening tune is accompanied by the images of about a kajillion atom bombs exploding. Isn't it ironic? Like a black fly in your chardonnay?
Little Green Bag and Coconut from Reservoir Dogs- The first song seemed to go perfectly with the pseudo- slow motion opening. And the second was good enough that I didn't stop watching till the end of the credits, which pretty much nobody does unless there's extra scenes.
Wake Me Up Before You Go and Working For The Weekend from Zoolander- Freak gasoline fight accident, hee hee hee...

"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by the Proclaimers and "Have a Little Faith in Me" by John Hiatt. Both in Benny & Joon. *is dropping many hints on reviewing*
