Okay, so it was the main squeeze's birthday last week, and because I'm cheap and everything, one of my presents to her was the first half of a 2-CD romantic mix I've been working on. With all modesty aside, I think it turned out great; definitely the best romantic mix I've ever compiled, has a nice flow to it and everything, all the cheesy but sweet classics. Now the purpose of this thread- yes, of course, partially just for me to brag, but mostly it's for everyone to share the best romantic song mixes you've either compiled for someone else or been the recipient of in that grand game called love. Let's face it, there's no more touching expression of young infatuation than the mix tape/CD, and they come straight from the heart, not the store shelf. That being the case, throw privacy to the wind and spill with the rest of us!
Here's my most recent effort:
Disc 1 (Sugar):
1) Wouldn't It Be Nice -- Beach Boys 2) Just like Heaven -- The Cure 3) [song referencing Lady Luck's real name for personal meaning] 4) She's Got A Way -- Billy Joel 5) In Your Eyes -- Peter Gabriel 6) Let My Love Open The Door -- Pete Townsend 7) Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic -- The Police 8) Have A Little Faith In Me -- John Hiatt 9) Hey Girl -- O.A.R. 10) Stand By Me -- Ben E. King 11) Breathing -- Lifehouse 12) To Be With You -- Mr. Big 13) Time After Time -- Eva Cassidy 14) She's Always A Woman To Me -- Billy Joel 15) Hallelujah -- Jeff Buckley 16) God Only Knows -- Beach Boys
Who's next?

Well I never really made a CD, I've always been in love with the IDEA of being in love, but I can't honestly say I've ever been in love before. So these are some of the songs I listen to when I'm lonely and imagining that special perfect someone. Be prepared to GAG. 1) I Can Love You Like that - John Michael Montgomery OR All-4-One 2) I Swear - John Michael Montgomery OR All-4-One 3) I'll Be There - Jackson 5 OR Mariah Carey 4) Open Arms - Journey OR Mariah Carey 5) Love Song - The Cure 6) Something About the Way You Look Tonight - Elton John 7) How Deep Is Your Love? - BeeGees (only song I can stand from them and oddly it's one of my favorites) 8) Iris - GooGoo Dolls 9) Eyes Like Twins - Wilson Phillips 10) You've Got a Friend - James Taylor 11) I Want You To Want Me - Cheap Trick 12) Angel - Shaggy 13) Dreaming of You - Selena 14) We Belong - Pat Benetar 15) These Dreams - Heart 16) Hard To Say I'm Sorry - Chicago 17) Lost In Love - Air Supply 18) Unforgettable - Nat King and Natalie Cole 19) Love Me Tender - Elvis Presley 20) If I Could Change the World - Eric Clapton Ok I need to stop now before I cry. I really need a woman.

I'll throw my 2 cents in and try to come up with a lil somethin somethin. I think you have to actually listen to these to get it, but this's the kind of CD I'd put together, btw my significant other's birthday is today, unfortunatly I don't have all of these on me or I'd make this mix right now. btw Blade some of those songs you got on there are really really good. Wow! ------ 1) Bee Gees - More Than a Woman 2) Bon Jovi - Always 3) Evanescence - My Immortal 4) Candlebox - You 5) Creed - With Arms Wide Open 6) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Roller Coaster of Love 7) Gargabe - No. 1 Crush 8) 311 - I'll Be Here a While 9) Chad Kroeger - Hero 10) Van Halen - Love Comes Walking In 11) PM Dawn - Patient Eyes 12) Ja Rule - Mesmerize 13) Loverboy - Heaven In Your Eyes 14) Slipknot - Vermillion Pt. 2

While I don't have the attention span to make up a whole CD I would like to say that I think Honey I Sure Miss You by Daniel Johnston is a great one.

There was a girl I had a raging crush on back when I was a Junior (that's TEN FREAKIN YEARS AGO...I'm old) and I used to do this subtle wooing approach by making her copies of all my REM cd's. I never actually asked her out or anything, I just kept making her tapes and figured she'd totally fall in love with my awesome taste in music.
Needless to say, this never worked.

I never actually asked her out or anything, I just kept making her tapes and figured she'd totally fall in love with my awesome taste in music. Needless to say, this never worked. I used to do that when I was dating as well. It typically worked pretty well, except I kind of scared one girl with my musical tastes. She came from a very conservative household that consisted mostly of classical music (The Beatles and U2 were about as modern as they got) and she was just not ready for my musical tastes. Luckily, she looked past that and eventually agreed to marry me, but it was touch-and-go for a while... This thread makes me think I should try and make a good love song cd for her. It's going to be difficult, but it's a challenge I'll be up to.
