Even though I absolutely abhor the film - Forrest Gump had the best soundtrack I've ever heard in a movie. Singularly.

We play the Shrek one at home a lot, although I wish it had "Dance to the Music" on it as well. ("My Beloved Monster" is one of Sib1's favorite songs.) I notice no one has mentioned "O Brother, Where Art Thou," but I suppose not everyone's going to like bluegrass. Don't get me wrong, I like metal, but I also am very fond of "Man of Constant Sorrow" and the a capella song the sirens sing.
For that matter, "The One" has a lot of songs on it I like, though I don't know if those ever made it from the score to the soundtrack (as magill noted, sometimes they don't).

Definitely. That is one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. Here are two more:
Titanic ;D Moulin Rouge!

"Eddie and the Cruisers." One of the soundtracks of my childhood. I grew up around some of the places where this movie was filmed. My alternate online moniker "Boardwalkangel" comes from one of my favorite songs from this album.
And though I'm not as fond of the movies as my brother is, I'll second both "Shrek" soundtracks. "Accidentally In Love" is one of my current favorite songs, and my brother gets a kick out of the Jennifer Saunders "Holding Out For a Hero." Not to mention you can't go wrong with a rockin' cover of the Monkees' best-known hit.

I like metal, but I also am very fond of "Man of Constant Sorrow" and the a capella song the sirens sing. Despite my forum handle. I am also a metal fan. But I agree,Man of constant sorrow and "The Siren Song" are awesome as is the entire O'brother where art thou sound track.
