i'm sitting at the vault last saturday, thinking about how awesome it is to be listening to hobo jazz and to see a "local" band really making it big.
and i'm wondering: are there cool local bands for everyone everywhere, or is it only in certain places that this sort of thing happens? just curious about what it's like in your neck of the woods.
also, hobo jazz is awesome! know it!

Oh, there are certainly cool local bands where I'm from. In fact, there's one I've been hawking on here several times... Swashbuckler. www.myspace.com/swashbucklerncAgain, this is some quality stuff. Plus, I feel so cool when I walk around campus with my Swashbuckler T-shirt.

this has nothing to do with this thread at all, but:
in 'rock me amadeus' by falco, i LOVE in the middle or so when he's all "ah cah a rah keh meh dea reh ahl lea ah mad dah ues!"
makes my day. and locally, so there's the connection!

Ha ha, I agree with Kyle! Hobo Jazz is the best. That show at the Vault was awesome...as usual. www.hobojazz.com/

Madly in love with "The Southerners"....hmmm...if i was cool i could link you to them. They are on my space, have one CD out (Barstool Rodeo). They are sort of old school country, rockabilly (think Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash....) AND the are playing at Angel's in Yuciapa on October 13th, with Lee Rocker (of Straycats fame) and a couple other local bands!
YAY!

I guess I should have mentioned all band members are from the IE and they are making it slowly but surely, they opened for Dwight Yokam earlier in the year.

Haven't heard of them but I'll check them out if they're in the area.

Ha, heard Hobo Jazz Saturday night at the hobo house. It was spectacular...very different than usual because it was more of a jam session where people were allowed to bring instruments and either contribute or detract from the wonder that is Hobo Jazz.

I recently discovered a local band called Lovertine, an excellent group and the only local band whose CD I own. Sadly they do not have a website that I could find.
Long live Canadian talent!
