i ask only because a co-worker and close friend, completely out of the blue, told me "hey, it's funny, but your singing voice sounds exactly like phil collins."
is that a compliment? an insult? when my boss told me that it's fairly obvious that i think the entire universe revolves around me, i knew that was a compliment (and positive job appraisal!). this i'm not so sure about.
however: 'against all odds' is one of the greatest songs EVER!!! 'we didn't start the fire' is pretty good, too. nice work, phil collins!
what do you think of the dude?

All I know is this: Lady Luck can deny it all she wants, but once she's whacked out on painkillers and happy drugs, our first daughter's getting named "Sussudio" on that birth certificate, and that's all there is to say about that.
Oh yeah, and "Home by the Sea" is the unofficial Madrox theme song. Rock!
Creeping up the blind side, shinning up the wall Stealing thru the dark of night Climbing thru a window, stepping to the floor Checking to the left and the right Picking up the pieces, putting them away Something doesn't feel quite right
Help me someone, let me out of here Then out of the dark was suddenly heard Welcome to the home by the sea
Coming out the woodwork, thru the open door Pushing from above and below Shadows but no substance, in the shape of men Round and down and sideways they go Adrift without direction, eyes that hold despair Then as one they sigh and they moan
Help us someone, let us out of here Living here so long undisturbed Dreaming of the time we were free So many years ago Before the time when we first heard Welcome to the home by the sea
Sit down, sit down As we relive our lives in what we tell you
Images of sorrow, pictures of delight Things that go to make up a life Endless days of summer, longer nights of gloom Waiting for the morning light Scenes of unimportance, photos in a frame Things that go to make up a life
Help us someone, let us out of here 'Cause living here so long undisturbed Dreaming of the time we were free So many years ago Before the time when we first heard Welcome to the home by the sea
Sit down, sit down As we relive our lives in what we tell you Let us relive our lives in what we tell you
Sit down, sit down 'Cause you won't get away No, with us you will stay For the rest of your days, sit down As we relive our lives in what we tell you Let us relive our lives in what we tell you

Phil Collins is like just in the middle of unappreciated and lame. In the air tonight is freaking amazing so I give him that but some of his songs are just really stupid. So i'm torn.

I'm gonna go with unappreciated, but he needs to stay away from Disney animated features.

I thought Billy Joel did We Didn't Start the Fire. I had to do a project on that in grade 11 and still have it burned in my brain. Do I have another person to blame?
And I'm being completely subjective here, but In the Air Tonight is almost my most-hated song ever. It is only saved from the top spot by Wham's Careless Whisper.

I am the kind of person who only surfs through most 80's artists catalogs. I usually just borrow Best-of CD's from friends. So I really love "Take Me Home" and "Sussudio," but I don't care much more about his stuff to say he's underappreciated.

Phil Collins is good stuff, but "We Didn't Start the Fire" is indeed copyright Billy Joel. But, no, in my eyes, I say bask in the glow of the comment.

Another is becoming a vagabond and robbing your loved ones. Of their Phil Collins' CDs.

I was with Phil until Disney's Tarzan came out... but he has a great singing voice, so if you sound like him- probably a compliment.
