Dear God.
I don't know if you've heard it yet, but they're playing an updated version of "Good Morning Starshine" on the radio (by Serena Rider... welcome to your fifteen minutes of fame, honey). If you can't place the title, it's the song they sing on The Simpsons where the town thinks Mr Burn is an alien. The one with Leonard Nimoy and the X Files spoof.
Good morning starshine/ The earth says hello/ You twinkle above us/ We twinkle below.
As you might expect, it's TERRIBLE.
It carries the fringe benefit of reminding me of a hilarious episode of a favourite show, but damn, this is one piece of music that I literally have no understanding of why anyone thought it would be a good idea to remake it.
Anyways. Rant over.

You know what's even worse? Somewhere out there are more than one person ranting about how they just LOVED the original song, and this one is NOT AS GOOD.
That's why I seldom listen to oldies radio lately. Too much crappy trippy touchy feely sixties music and not enough Beach Boys or Rolling Stones or soul by actual black persons.
The song "I Think We're Alone Now" has also been remade. By NickelBack. Now it's called "Animals" and is far more candid while expressing the identical sentiments of the original song.
I'm just kidding, of course.

No Willy Wonka love? C'mon, that's the best part of the movie!
I'm just getting into The X-Files and now really want to re-watch that episode.

I heard a version of GMS on Absolutely Fabulous: The Last Shout and I wish it were on CD. When Donovan (that his name?) does that "glibby glabby gloopy" whatever insanity... I lost interest in the song. Yep, the original. I also thought their Female version of "We've Got to Get Out of This Place" was immediately more interesting sung by a woman.
"I Guess I'm a Weirdo"
