also: the coffeehouse girl is on the backburner, so now i'm interested only in whether or not that initial kyle mix could effectively communicate that i am - attractive in terms of both personality and creativity - playful and fun - attentive and caring - a gemini - a fan of spending days at the beach, nights at a beachside bar, and late nights by a bonfire on the beach before retiring to a cabana - intelligent, emotional, and sensitive - other if you could in anyway let me how effectively that mix approximates the desired effect, i'd appreciate it. thanks! I don't put much stock in astrology, but I actually do think that your mix communicates your Gemini-ness. (This comes from one Gemini to another, hahaha.) And yeah. It also effectively communicates the fact that you're a beach person. (Again, from someone who pretty much is one.)

I agree with MS. Jellybean. It is a great mix and fairly accurately conveys your Kyleness.
Note to whomever's real name is Hilary- your mix is on the way, I apparently didn't put enough postage on- they seriously sent it back over 1 cent. for real. whatever. In any event, it will be in the mail with ridiculously over sufficient postage tomorrow.

I just received my mix from Magill who, apparently, lives inside of my head and likes all of the same bands as I do. Seriously amazing- a few of these songs are actually on the first mix that i sent out! Sweet! Since someone suggested posting tracklists of what we get, here goes: The Decemberists - July, July! Sufjan Stevens - Chicago Bishop Allen - Click Click Click Crooked Fingers - You Threw A Spark Midlake - Roscoe Lucinda Williams- Car Wheels on a Gravel Road Billy Bragg & Wilco - California Stars (I seriously danced to this at my wedding) My Morning Jacket- Mageetah Mark mallman- True Love The Arcade Fire- Intervention Devin Davis- Giant Spiders David Dondero- The Stars are my Chandelier Whiskeytown- Paper Moon Regina Spektor- Fidelity (I'm so obsessed with her right now) The Shins- Australia Voxtrot- Raised by Wolves Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin- Oregon Girl Wolf Parade- I'll Believe Anything Belle & Sebastian- Your Cover's Blown (one of my all time favorite bands!) So... if my next mix is even half as promising as this one, I am ridiclously psyched to get it! THANKS MAGILL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got mine today, and am eagerly creating my mixtape to be sent out into the wild. Is that version of Wild Horses the one from the prom episode of Buffy? I loves it.
ETA: does anyone hate slam? because if not, watch out!

Ha ha, yeah. That version is soooo from the Buffy soundtrack! Loved it Kyle.
p.s. yours is on its way sarahbot.
p.p.s. Coccatino-Loved your mix, got it on tax day:) Some strong 90's representation there and my significantly younger roommate had never heard Jackie's Strength before and wondered if Tori was singing in a foreign language...it was the first time I laughed while listening to that song. Great mix.

Just one tough guy song. Sensitivity is overrated.

I've had a great time creating my mix. I actually went rather overboard and eventually had to cut out around a dozen songs to bring it down to size. Unfortunately, I got busy and didn't actually get it out in the mail until today (sorry)

I also had fun making my mix. I had to use some mp3 editing software to cut off a few seconds of silence off most of my songs to get them to all fit on a disc.
Already contemplating my next mix.

Is it possible for me to get involved in the super-mix-tape-extravaganza even though I'm a little late?
It sounds like a lot of fun, and I love getting (and giving) music.

Great mix, Kyle. I'll send feedback soon. Problem is my one and only computer has come down with the Ultimate Virus of Doom and is completely unusuable at the moment. I finally called the computer guy today and he'll be picking it up tomorrow. Once it's up and running again I'll get back to you on your mix and start on the one for my recipient. I'm at least being a good girl and compliling a list o' songs.

no problem jumping in at this late date! just private-message me with your mailing address, and we'll get you involved immediately!
i'm about to send out the secondary instructions/push for the great exchange. hooray!
here's an important question for anyone participating: are profane lyrics an absolute no-no? i don't want to offend anyone, and i ask only because i was about to put in a song that i realized has the "f-word" and i was like "uh oh, this could be BAD."

There were a couple of songs in my mix that wouldn't have made it onto prime time tv, but I mentioned it in the note I included and assumed that was warning enough. But then, I've been forced to eat soap more often then I'd care to admit in my lifetime.
I think I'll just leave it at 'I personally don't mind some swearing or mature themes in my music.'
