Oh yes, how I've been long awaiting this moment.
Ever since he was a writer for In Living Color, I've been a follower and the First Cleric in the Church of the Big O. Yes, thats right, Steve Oedekerk. He is responsible for the Thumb Film Parodies and Kung Pow, his most infamous works that I love oh so very much. This is him at his best, when he has full creative control, and some would say at his worst. I feel it is the former, but then again I am a Type I by birth. For me (as Roger Rabbit says) comedy is the most powerful thing in the world, and there is almost nothing that I do not find funny. I love every single quirk of comedy and style and flavor.
What does this have to do with Ave Ventura II and Justin's review? Everything my friend, but mostly it shows that I am slowly whittling away at Justin and soon he will too be a cleric in the Church of the Big O.
Steve Oedekerk wrote Ace II.
Now some would argue that the writing is only a minor thing and that so much more goes into a movie other than that, and yes that is mostly true - except where Oedekerk is involved. He is like a plague that spreads his comedy genius through everything that he touches, infecting all those around him with his madcap energy. Lets look at the list:
In Living Color.... Writer!!!!
Ace II.... Check! (written by)
Nutty Professor.... Check! (screenplay written by)
Nothing to Lose (Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence film)..... Check! (written by)
Patch Addams.... Check! (screenplay written by)
Nutty Professor II The Klumps.... Check! (story)
Bruce Almighty... Check! (screenplay written by)
He has been working in Hollywood for years, infecting it with his own brand of wacky goodness, I would argue the same way that Monty Python did almost 30 years ago. The man knows funny, it's in his bones. And one day Justin, you WILL watch a Thumb Movie, oh yes, you *WILL*.
I'll even send you one or all through the mail at my expense, hint hint wink wink nudge nudge say-no-more ;D
For the Church of the Big O cannot be stopped, all it can do is be delayed for awhile!
