Good article! Your list was a little heavily biased towards animated movies for my taste, especially of the Disney persuasion. Sure, they're good, but I really think singing in movies really can be more powerful when you're actually seeing the person doing the singing instead of an cartoon, anthropomorphic whatever.
I may compile a list of my own on the subject a little later, but right now one comes to mind that is on both my best and worst list: "Prom tonight" from Not Another Teen Movie. Jaw dropping. Both the best part of a really awful movie and possibly one of the worst. I wasn't sure what exactly they were doing at first until I remembered that "Grease" was a teen movie. Or something. But while parts of it are dead funny, about every other line is more of the vile gross out humor that plagues the rest of the movie. And it just seems so entirely out of place, but that may have been what they were trying for. I can't think of a single other scene in any movie that is more divisive in my own head. Brilliant. Horrible. Memorable.

Man oh man, you REALLY hit the nail on the head with "I'm Looking Out For Me", Lissa Same with "Cheer Up Charlie". I love that movie, but everytime the mother starts singing, I have to fastforward it. I'm surprised you chose "La Resistance" from South Park, though. I would've picked "What Would Brian Boitano Do?". Great music and lyrics, plus they tell off Brian Dennehy! Probably my favorite musical moments are: 1) "You Ain't Never Had A Friend Like Me" from Aladdin. Am I the only one who thinks that song would make an awesome rock cover live? and 2) The Oogie Boogie Man song from Nightmare Before Christmas (surprise surprise, right?)

What's your problem with "T.V. Eye", Lissa? It's a great reenactment of an Iggy Pop concert, using one of his best songs, AND it has Ewan McGregor wailing in tight leather pants.
And I don't know if you've listened to a lot of Iggy Pop, but Ewan doesn't do a bad job of imitating the man's voice. I mean, it's not as beautiful or romantic or comprehendable as his Moulin Rouge work, but it's not supposed to be.
Anyway. Lissa should review "Velvet Goldmine" so I can disagree with her.

How about 'Tiny Dancer' in almost famous, the part where they all start singing in the bus? or hakuna matata is cool

How about 'Tiny Dancer' in almost famous, the part where they all start singing in the bus? or hakuna matata is cool I love that scene in Almost Famous. And, speaking of 'Tiny Dancer', I seem to remember an emotional scene in WKRP in Cincinnati that used it, as well. Russian ballerina, wanted to defect to the US, but couldn't. At least it was an emotional scene to me, when I was 12

I will never. EVER. watch Velvet Goldmine again. Ever ever ever ever.
And for someone who likes Ewan McGregor, this says a lot.
I HATEd that movie. With a passion. The only movie I can think of off the top of my head I hated more was The Doom Generation. and maybe Lost in Translation. I just really really really hate that movie.
It's a biased list, I know!
I admit, however, I was remiss. There are no Muppet nods on this list, and sadly, I completely forgot "Rawhide" in The Blues Brothers.

Speaking of which, if 'making of' footage counts, then the scene from LOTR where orcs are signing 'Rainbow Connection' would be near the top of my list. ;D

After some careful thought, I have a winner.
"Drop Dead Gorgeous" --> Denise Richards doing "Can't take my eyes off of you".
If you've seen it, you know what I mean. I wouldn't dream of spoiling it.

Orcs singing "Rainbow Connection"? Where? It was on a "making of" short, for one of the LOTR movies. I'm not sure which one, it may have been Return of the King. I caught it on TV one night, just before either the second or third movie was released in the theaters. It was just so surreal, can't get it out of my mind...

Oh my Gah. Please ignore that Jessica Simpson euphemism I just used.
Speaking of Muppets, "Can You Picture That?" is one of my FAVORITE movie songs.
