Sue: I'm all too sadly aware that the Raiders team this year (and in fact for the past few years) was the last stop before the NFL veterans retirement home, and if we go 8-8 this year I'll be mildly surprised. Tyrone Wheatley's a great player mind, and Gannon can still throw (witness the 54yd TD bomb against the Steelers last week), but 2 players does not an offence make; and while Warren Sapp is a legend, as long as Rod Woodson is holding out, our D still looks choppy.
Also, we have nothing against Green Bay. We need to save all our hatred for Denver and KC. And I'm fine with all the Vikings getting their legs broken.
Duckie: I know who plays in Philly I've been an NFL fan for about 14 years now - however, what I didn't know is where you lived The Steelers got mentioned just because it happens also to be the name of Sheffield's Ice Hockey franchise and the name of the team who lucked their way to a win against Oakland last Sunday - curse you, Jerome Bettis!
Also, the coverage over here on 'terrestrial tv' (the channels everyone gets for free) sucks; however, we have Satellite TV, which means we get two complete live games every Sunday, a live game on Monday, and a round-up of the previous weeks action on Saturday morning. Last week we got to see the Skins and TB (Boo Tampa Bay - Death to the traitor Chuckie!) followed by the 49ers/Falcons game.
Tonight it's the Panthers/Chiefs and Pats/Cards
Hucklebubba: You're right in that Threads is a great film set in Sheffield - but someone else will have to review it. One of the things that really scares me in nuclear armageddon, and watching a really disturbing film about it set in my home town just ain't happening.
