One of my favorite movies.... Great review, Sue, but two things: 1.) Which parent gets smacked by Disney? Both of Mulan's parents are alive, and although we only see Shang's dad, we only see them in the army camp. No women allowed. Did I miss a parent? (Aside from the ghostly ancestors?) 2.) You should be smacked for the Panda-monium pun. But I liked it anyway

Tsk. All that was left of Shang's dad by the middle of the movie was his helmet. Another parent bites the dust! Plus, you do get to see a few dozen deceased ancestors. Sorry for the pun. I couldn't quite help myself. Cutting back on the coffee has affected my mind in curious and worrying ways. Sue

What a coincidence. The movie came on TV here on the weekend, and I watched it for the first time in years. And then the songs kept getting stuck in my head, and now here's the Mutant review.
I quite liked Mulan, even though I generally don't like the nineties Disney films. The songs were catchy, the heroine is likeable, and there's no predictable and sappy love sub-plot.
