Here's hoping no one made a thread like this already... ;D Anyway! I am so glad to finally find an MRFH review that loves Lost in Translation! I have long despaired in reading one here; Lissa's review sent me scurrying in a corner and kept me mum on my abiding love for the movie. I'm just happy someone agrees with me.

I second synchondrosis' feedback... nice going, Clare. I really liked Lost in Translation, but I don't think that I'll ever convince Lissa that it's a decent movie. It's good to have someone give it a positive review, especially by going into the subtle nuances that make it worth seeing. Agreed, it's not for everyone, but there are some of us who really enjoyed it. So there, Lissa...

Claire's review was thoughtful and convincing. Lissa's review was thoughtful and convincin. Kyle made a respectable effort at being a noncombatant, ensuring that he'll probably be overrun and destroyed by both sides.
There's only one thing left to do.
THUNDERDOME!
I'll make popcorn!

One of the best things about working here is that lots of different opinions are welcome. I was happy to have the opportunity to write something about why someone might actually really like Lost in Translation since it does seem to be pretty devisive among my friends, neighbors and fellow mutants. Plus, the to the pain cage matches (especially over cerebral indie movies) are always good for a hoot...

As long as they don't make us fight in pudding dressed only in bikinis. (Unless the pudding is chocolate. Then I might reconsider.)
And it was an excellent review Clare! (I might not agree, but that doesn't change things.)
And anything where we can have more than one reviewer use the phrase "hoity-toity" can only be a good thing.
