Ghost Dog Review

Good job! I'm glad that someone agrees with me on how lame "Ghost Dog" is. It goes through all these motions to try and be hip and quirky, when it's really just infuriating. Last semester I was actually in a class on film authorship in which we watched almost every Jim Jarmusch film in order, and in the context of the rest of his work "Ghost Dog" looks even worse. Most of the people in my class loved it because "the RZA is cool" and "the samurai code is cool". But really, it's impossible to take Ghost Dog seriously as a samurai. The entire movie makes the same mistake he does - the fetishization of a foreign culture he doesn't really understand. Not that I can claim to understand it either, but...

I'm babbling. Bad movie. Good review.

I agree. That was one of them that just bored me and I gave up on watching it about halfway through. Good job, liss.
