Great review, but the picture captions had me laughing so very hard! You need to narrate a flick some day.

Actually, what had me giggling was your treatment of the extras, Sue. I just wish I'd thought of that trick first!!!!!

Greetinx For a massive surprise, I liked this film... can I just say, that I (don't think I am) some idiot who is entertained by any old crap, but I do find myself enjoying pretty much most films. There are exceptions (Batman & Robin, which I hated with a passion) yet, there is usually something about a film that keeps me interested. I suppose I am just (overly) enthusiastic about film To me: Wicker Park was a fun film about the unreasonableness that is love (in how Josh's character was willing to drop everything just for the ghost of a chance to find his true love) and how synchronicity can sometimes play a huge part in finding your other half. Admittedly, this film takes the latter to an unbelievable extreme, but it is a Hollywood romance film. What do you expect? I've seen the original French version (L'Apartment). I really didn't like it. However, that may be more to your tastes. For starters, 80% of both movies are identical, from camera work to storyline. Monica Belucci (not looking half as hot as she does in Matrix II) plays the role of Lisa in the original and that French geezer from Ocean's Twelve (Vincent Cassel) plays Matthew. L'Apartment differs in two areas: there is a random subplot and a very non-Hollywood ending, which you may or may not like more. SPOILERSIn the original version, Lisa is involved in a relationship with a powerful man. He notices 'Matt' knocking around in stalker mode and becomes suspicious. This unfortunately has a knock-on effect as he is quite a jealous man and it is hinted (stated? I can't remember) that he killed a previous girlfriend out of jealousy... Anyways, at the end of the film, Matthew (having run out on his fiancée to find Lisa, coming across Alice and sleeping with her) decides he doesn't want Lisa and goes for Alice...he tracks her down to the Airport and tries to get her to stay. But she doesn't want HIM and leaves. Amazingly, Matthew's fiancée is at the airport, he bumps in to her and she is all like 'What are you doing here?' and he decides he doesn't want her either! And then Lisa is killed as her apartment explodes. So, no one ends up with anyone! So I ask you: to Hollywood or not to Hollywood!?
