I myself, having read this review, am tempted to track down the joker who suggested I review it as a "mechanical man movie" and beat them. Severely.
It's difficult to write a good review of a bad comedy, because it's difficult not to take seriously something that's already not supposed to be taking itself seriously. Good job there, Justin.

I've never got the Andy Kaufman thing either.
I have seen clips of the SNL sketch and was like "This is what he is famous for?". I have seen episodes of Taxi and his character was the most annoying! Christopher Lloyd and Danny DeVito were always the best two people on that show...
It seems to me that when people in the media die young, they earn a special place in people's hearts, irrespective of whether they deserve that.
As much as I like the Doors, I certainly don't think that Jim Morrison deserved the adoration he got. Kaufman is just another example of this. Even JFK, whom history has shown that he wasn't exactly the American hero, really only earned his status by being assassinated - had he continued his tenure in the White House, opinion may well have greatly changed.
Someone, somewhere must be able to explain to me why Kaufman was so beloved! He wasn't doing anything that the Monty Python team hadn't done 10 years earlier!

Glad some of you liked it -- it was a review I was looking forward to posting.
Although, if you put the oddity/creepy factor aside, it really was a pretty tame, forgettable film.
