Good review, although I must wonder what it actually takes to scare you, my dear spikey haired friend.
Also, just pointing out that the daily calendar for today on the front page links to Event Horizon (total coincidence...)

I'm scared by jump scenes and sneaking-up-on-you scenes, the kind where the viewer knows it but the character doesn't. Really. Especially the kind that are in ghost movies, where what pops out is surreal or unearthly instead of a bucket of guts. That's why I tend not to review movies like The Devil's Backbone. I don't necessarily like being scared out of my mind.
To me blood and injuries aren't inherently frightening. (Probably good since my dream is to be a surgeon, though so far I've only watched the neater sort of operations in person.) They are indicators of specific things needing to be done involving tourniquets and stitches, or, if it's too late for that, preservatives and a big sponge. So just piling on more depictions of bad things happening to a human body isn't going to freak me out. Maybe if I felt some empathy for the injured people, but slasher flicks go out of their way not to make that happen.
What scares me is when you DON'T see things on the screen. The Others kept me awake for a long time.

Hey Blinky? Think you might be out of Kudos bars *cough* Maybe try a different brand? One that's just as good as the caffeinated one?

It was born old. Like Deforest Kelly.
(That makes sense to me, at least)
