I thought it wonderfully odd that last weekend, for no real reason, I borrowed a copy of this soundtrack from the library, and was wondering how the movie was. Thanks for answering that question!

I saw a production of "The Producers" in Hollywood circa 2003. It had Jason Alexander (George from Seinfeld) as Max and Martin Short as Bloom.
I really enjoyed the show and went to see the 2005 version as soon as. Considering that Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick were the original Max and Bloom, I thought that Alexander and Short were better.
Perhaps I've seen Broderick in too many other films, but I didn't buy him as the wussy Bloom. I mean, come on, he was Ferris Bueller (about a zillion years ago, admittedly).
Anyways, the film is very faithful and cool. See it.
Good review Pooly!

It was definitely faithful and fun to watch, but, really, if it's at all possible, see it at the theater instead. Live-on-stage-type theater, that is. Everything (for me at least) popped a bit more when it wasn't squished into a box. Plus, there's almost always someone good in one of the roles. In mine, Alan Ruck was Leo!

Oh, believe me, if the show ever comes to town, I'm there. I'd SO much rather see it in theater. All my mucking about in live theater for the last few years has really turned me onto it, I'd be there in a heartbeat.
But the movie brings a nice side benefit: it's the first movie EVER where I've found Uma Thurman unbelievably HAWT. Whoof!
Thanks for the kind words, all.

Did any of you guys see Season 4 of Curb Your Enthusiasm where Mel cast Larry David as Max? That was so hilarious. They had first Ben Stiller then David Schwimmer as Leo. Check it out if you're a fan of the Producers.

Great review! I have to say, I saw The Producers before Kill Bill- and I personally think Uma is a lot more attractive in the former. Not to mention, she sings!
.....I liked Kill Bill too, though.

Great review! I have to say, I saw The Producers before Kill Bill- and I personally think Uma is a lot more attractive in the former. Not to mention, she sings! .....I liked Kill Bill too, though. Attractiveness isn't the point with the Kill Bill movies. Uma isn't there to be eye candy, she's there to be a killing machine. That's why it's okay that she's a very tall woman with big feet. This is a movie that lets her be attractive for looking like she really does, instead of trying to make her shorter and softer to appeal to some arbitrary beauty standard. Not that I have anything against female softness, being squishier than normal myself, but Hollywood is sick this way. They're always airbrushing curves onto women who don't have them and then calling women who DO have them fat.
