Once again, the Jay man rings in.

Which leads me to question...funkymartini, do you work at a radio station too?

Funkymartini, I got this message when I tried to invite you:
"--- The message cannot be delivered to the following address. ---
gskambo1@z95.com Mailbox unknown or not accepting mail. 501 Invalid recipient address (no such address at this site)"
Any idea why?

Well yes, but not that one.l I'm one of the DJs/commentators for the station at my university, so I don't actually get paid. But its definitely alot of fun... we play alot of underground/local/non-mainstream stuff that you wouldn't hear anywhere else. Its great! What about you?

Me, I've served the clutches of evil corporate commercial radio since I was 17, at least, in a part-time fashion. And with at least two lenghty hiatuses. And honestly, this station wasn't even corporate until 1 1/2 years ago. Just decided to take the plunge into full-time disc jockery last month, now I'm working nights at a top 40 station. Yup, all the Britney Spears, Nelly, and Beyonce you can stand! And then some!!! I had a thread going on about it in the Music/Books section of this here forum, if you want to see.
Coincidentally, one of my hiatuses involved me going to Florida State University for two years. I auditioned for the college radio station (volunteer, mind you) over there, and they totally dissed me. It was then that I learned that it was apparently bad to have personality on college radio (at least, in Florida) and that it was a tad bit elitist. Or it may be me...

Perhaps a shower before the audition may have helped.

Perhaps a shower before the audition may have helped. Oh, NOW you tell me. Actually, I'm sure I showered before hand. And my deodorant said it was strong enough for a man...

Makes it much more interesting.

Yeah, the FSU radio station seemed pretty content with the "Bands that noone but me and three of my friends like" format. That would have been awesome to have a talk-formatted show like that - but I never once heard one on that station.

Is anybody else's Gmail account down? Mine hasn't worked for about a week, and I'm getting just a tad homicidal. If it's just mine, I'll beg somebody for another invite and get a backup account, but if it's all of Gmail, there will be some nasty words exchanged with the Google guys.

it's just you.
mine occasionally doesn't come up right away, so i just hit the "reload" button once or twice and it comes up. other than that, i've had no problems.
if you need an additional gmail account, please let me know. i have a couple free invites left, and among my friends we have hundreds. beta my butt!

Well, it came back up about an hour after I posted that. After being down for a week. *shrugs* Best of timing, I guess.
