I saw this movie yesterday! It's like you guys are reading my mind.
I for one was INCREDIBLY angry with the end of the movie. I think it was a case of no matter what, nothing could justify the horrible things that people did to each other beforehand.

Wow... I loved it. Too bad I'm retired. Nah, I'd actually like to write it up some time, but I quite enjoyed it. Disturbingly so, but maybe I didn't find it lame because I'm not as big a horrormeister as Kyle is?

I liked it, but it certainly wasn't what I expected. I think the advertising was misleading in making us think that this is a fantasy movie, instead of being a war movie with fantasy elements. So I can see why Kyle might be disgruntled. Still, I liked it.

See that's what happened with me and The Devil's Backbone (another Guillermo del Toro film). It was recommended to me as a ghost movie, but it's more of a war movie with a paranormal twist.
I'll rent Pan's Labyrinth, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it.
