I was watching this last night, and pulled up your viewing to re-read it. I thought I'd point out something you said:
"I never noticed this before… Marion ups the price on the amulet outside the bar. Indy offered her $3000, and she says until she gets her $5000 back, they’re partners. Hm."
In the bar, Indy says, "I'll give you $3000 now, and $2000 when we/I get back to the states". There's your five grand.

Another point of interest, since I was just looking for details this time around as well:
"Interesting. In the scene where Indy has the amulet’s inscriptions translated, the old man says it should be six kadams (I’m sure I’m misspelling that) high, which Sallah suggests is 72 inches. That means a kadam is a foot. The back of the amulet says take back one kadam, so the staff should be five feet tall. Here we see Indy with a staff that’s taller than he is. Obviously, Indiana Jones is only 4 feet tall. Who knew?"
I think the movie screwed up here, but not in the way you said. In their discussion, Indy and Sallah determine that the staff is too long -- at least, that's what we heard. But when Indy is at the map room, you'll note that he finds the hole the Nazis used for their staff, then he goes about two holes down from it for his. I think the "kadam" thing might mean the location of the staff, not the height. Just a thought.

Grumble... grumble... nitpicking two year old articles... In the bar, Indy says, "I'll give you $3000 now, and $2000 when we/I get back to the states". There's your five grand. I'm doing this from memory (always a shaky prospect), but I think I'm still right. If I remember correctly, he offers $3000, and she rebuffs the offer by naming a higher figure. He capitulates by agreeing to the higher amount. But I'd need to see the movie again, of course. Still, in any event, Indy ain't much of a haggler, is he? But when Indy is at the map room, you'll note that he finds the hole the Nazis used for their staff, then he goes about two holes down from it for his. I think the "kadam" thing might mean the location of the staff, not the height. Just a thought. I've noticed that before, too. Indy even goes to the length of blowing sand and dust out of the hole he uses as well, suggesting the Nazis did indeed use the wrong hole. But I'm almost certain there's a throwaway line while all the exposition is going on with the government agents that the marking on the amulet pertains to the length of the staff, not its placement. Drat, tough to do this from memory.
