...and now, the continuing adventures of JAY IN HURRICANELAND!!!
Did I mention earlier that when I split town for Orlando to escape Ivan, I also left my wife and child in the keeping of her parents (in Orlando) for at least a week while the power was knocked out? Well, the plan was to run down there Saturday and come back Sunday. Well, our Florida-Hating Lord had other plans. I found out Thursday that Jeanne was making a turn to Florida. In the crosshairs: Orlando. I couldn't beg any time off of my new job before Monday, so I drove down there Saturday, weathered out the storm Sunday, and drove back early Tuesday (today) morning.
Fortunately, the storm wasn't all that bad in the area of Orlando I was in. It was mad windy, but it didn't even rain all that hard. We went shopping Monday at the mall.
The moral of this story? Virginia is for Lovers, but Florida is for Masochists. That, and I'm totally whipped. Oh, and if you can come up with your own moral, feel free to post it.
