I rented this about two years ago one very boring January day as a very strange double bill with "Blazing Saddles." Though I enjoyed it somewhat more than Justin (having heard the original Broadway cast album where Dorothy is the correct age), I will admit the movie is way longer than it should be, dated, and too bizarre for even a musical fantasy. Some of the music and cast was good enough that I didn't mind the rental, but it's nothing I recommend for even musical nuts like me to buy.

Thanks for the review. I'd been wavering on this; it sounded just weird enough. But I think your review has convinced me. It's a shame, because I like retellings of old stories. But I like good retellings.
