Great job, but I have to ask if said teenybopper cynic is into the whole "High School Musical" phenom. If she's able to take those seriously but scoffs at tractor chicken, it may be time for some serious parental control on the media intake. I caught part of "High School Musical 2" last weekend, and I'd wager that any given scene from that film is far cheesier than any in "Footloose", with the possible exception of Sarah Jessica Parker's dancing.

I think that's the most depressed I've ever felt after reading a review.
Uh, my lumbago! Somebody pass the Bengay...

Funny review, Sue! And don't feel bad- even *I* feel old after reading SoM2's comments. What kid doesn't know "preppy"?
Per the drinking age question, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that until sometime in the 80s, the drinking age (at least in New York) was 18 or 19, not 21. Don't quote me, but I'm relatively confident about that.

I don't think Sue has any right to feel old. Case in point, a fact I learned today from her son: Sue is a rabid Runescape player, with a "level 66-something" character.
I have never in my life been as proud to have known Sue, and urge her to come out of the video gaming closet!

Agreed- Those comments made me feel old, too. And also nostalgic for wigwam slouch socks and pink hightop sneakers Somewhere (hopefully in a deep abyss) there is a video of me, age 11, tap dancing to Footloose while wearing what has to have been the most absurdly hideous dayglo costume ever produced. And polka dotted tap shoes. At the time, it was the coolest thing in the world!

I don't have a problem! I don't! Besides, even though 65 is my combat level, my mining level is 67. See? It's not like I'm a stone cold PKer or anything. I'm not out to pwn anyone!
Thanks for the comments, guys! I'll have to check on the High School Musical question. And Coccatino, I took tap dance in the 70's. Imagine the costumes then!

I guess I'm lucky my 14-year-old brother and 16-year-old adopted sister are familiar with words like "preppy" from their sisters. They don't make me feel THAT old. As for the film, it's probably my favorite of the later MTV-esque 80s "musicals"...but that's not saying much, since I really don't like "Flashdance" or "Dirty Dancing." Sue, it's a shame your daughter is likely too young for the R-rated "Flashdance" - she could really get an 80s education from that.
