Excellent review, Lissa. You got in how funny and smart the movie is, while at the same time how it has a scary sort of feel to it.
I think if the tone of the movie was to be summed up in a sentence "For all that Wag the Dog is amusing, however, there's a certain dark believability to it as well." would be that sentence.
I do have to take issue with the "If you liked this movie, try these:" choices. What about Primary Colors or Canadian Bacon?
Oh, and the F word made it on to a review page.

Oh, and the F word made it on to a review page. This will revolutionize the way I write reviews. It's the dawning of a new day... -D

Thanks for the compliment, and a big OOPS on the f-word. You know how it says "some sources IMDb"? I always liked that speech, and didn't bother to read it through for profanity. Which probably makes some ironic comment about society in itself.

Oh I know the whole IMDb thing, but I like to give Justin a hard time by pointing out these things. ('cause I'm evil)

You'll never convince me Lissa didn't do that on purpose just to see if Justin was paying attention.

I actually reviewed this as part of a politics-themed movie column I had on my college newspaper, ironically shortly before the 2000 election "hanging chad" mess. Fun movie to watch, but I've never been fond of politics in general, and coming right around the time of that crazy contested election, the whole thing was downright spooky.

Fun movie to watch, but I've never been fond of politics in general, and coming right around the time of that crazy contested election, the whole thing was downright spooky. Shortly after the movie was released, there was also the NATO campaign in Kosovo because of the allegations of a genocide against the Albanians there. I never understood why Dustin Hoffman's character kept complaining that there was no Oscar for best producer, when producers get the Oscar when a film wins Best Picture.
