Dude.
My hat is OFF to you, good sir. That was a terrific read. I don't necessarily agree with all your points (railing against Roddenberry's humanism, mostly), but I really, really appreciated this article. Very well done.

I've been meaning to swing by this thread and post that exact same things. An excellent, excellent job.

Ah, tankee. Have no idea why I got the bee in my bonnet to do that article, but nostalgia is powerful wicked sometimes.

And, most likely, you were far more qualified to do this article than I ever was, Pooly.

Excellent article. I've been waiting impatiently for it to be posted. Ahhhh, good times. (Although my favorite episode was when Riker got to be a Klingon first officer. Briefly.)
Nicely done, Justin!

I've always personally liked Caveman Riker and Riker from the dimension that's been taken over by the Borg. Good times...

Dude, took me back to my high school days. Sweet nostalgia and hilarious mockery in equal measure. Thanx for that. (Incidentally, my friends and I in high school had a nerd support group called 'Nerds By Choice". Our insignia? A Star Fleet badge with glasses and a pocket protector.) Not making this up: xe9.xanga.com/f3782112d3778151821253/b113236730.jpgYeah that's me next to the guy in the dragon tee and walking staff.

Nice one, Justin! I've only ever seen part of one episode of TNG (in a History of Anglo-Saxon England class... I think they reenacted Beowulf in the holodeck), but excellent article nonetheless.
(Of course, I'm most partial to the Twisted Toyfare Theater where Kirk was accidentally beamed forward in time to the Enterprise-D...)
Geordi: Captain! I'm picking up an energy anomaly that's completely different from the energy anomaly we encountered last week! Picard: Make it so, Mr. La Forge! Geordi: It... it is so, Captain. Picard: Engage! Geordi: ...
Picard: And this is Kathryn Janeway, the captain of- Kirk: *PBBBBT!* Janeway: ...Is there a problem with a woman being a captain, Captain? Kirk: *Cough* No, no problem, princess... now how about you go 'captain' me up a fresh drink?
Kirk: Then we have no choice... I'll have to confront the Borg myself. Picard: That's not how we do things anymore... first we sit down and talk, then talk some more, then I have some tea and look at my fish, then- Kirk: One to beam over! Aaand... beam-o! *VNNN* Picard: Dammit! Raise the shields so he can't come back.

There's always *cof* Voyager! Yeesh... that would require me to have WATCHED Voyager. Something I've only ever done sporadically.
