For you Canadians on here (is it just me and poolman?) anyone paying attention to it? So far I haven't missed an episode. Who would you vote for? Since there's only 8 spots, Sir John A. McDonald, and Alexander Graham Bell got left off. My vote easily, easily goes to Terry Fox, he's someone I've considered a hero and an inspiration for a long time. It's a little bit silly with Don Cherry in the top 10 (he shouldn't even be in the top 100). And well there's no women in the top 10, and only 20 in the top 100.. and that includes Avril Lavigne, and Pamela Anderson . Nellie McClung, Emily Carr, and Joni Mitchell should all be in the top 10

It's down to Pearson or Banting for me. Both of them made a big impact on the entire world, saving countless lives through peacekeeping and lifesaving medicine.

Sadly, I only recognize two of those guys. Be that as it may, with PoolMan not on the list, there can be only one choice- there's a reason they call him "The Great One." I mean, the guy has more goals than anyone else in the history of the game has points (goals plus assists)... by far, it's not even close. That's just sick. Gretzky all the way.

^^You don't know Terry Fox? the dude with the mechanical leg that ran across canada for cancer research?
Cherry gave his vote to Banting, and Gretzky gave his vote to Fox

I am rather surprised that Don Cherry was listed, I don't know how many people outside of Canada would know him. Why not Leslie Nielson, he's had more of an impact on the world than DC?
I would also root for Marshall McLuhan.

I think Don Cherry's inclusion is all about Canada's perceived self-identity... he's a little stereotypical piece of Canadiana that simply refuses to be mown over by homogenization of Canada's culture. I think maybe it's silly that he's top 10, but I do think he belongs in the list somewhere. (I wonder how many non-Canadians recognized Mike Myers' cameo in Mystery, Alaska as a parody of Don Cherry?) And thanks for your backing, Drew. Maybe it's not too late to petition the CBC to put me on the list? In seriousness, I'd back Trudeau. I can't help but respect a man who gave Canada some serious balls, promoted bilingualism, and was probably the most honest politician in the history of the world. You might not have agreed with what he said he was going to do, but if he said he was going to do it, he DID. Or as he put it, "Just watch me".

Why is Leonard Cohen not on this list?

Leonard Cohen made the Top 50 list of Greatest Canadians...somewhere in the 40-50 area, i think.

Good. To the man who wrote the song, "Hallelujah", I raise my imaginary glass that's filled with non-existent liquid. Hail thee, oh mighty Cohen. Hail!

Should I feel bad that the only person I recognize off that list is Gretzky?
