Not to steal Lissa's thunder, but it is my sad duty to inform the female members of the forum that as of last night, I am officially single only in the most technical of terms... and in a year and a half, even that will cease to be the case. Yes, I recently plopped down some change on a big hunk of carbon, then presented it ceremoniously to the little lady yesterday eve. I'm sure she'll post on her own to warn against any last-ditch, The Graduate-style efforts to rescue me, but I thought it was only fair for me to break the news myself. The National Guard has been dispatched to quell any rioting in the streets, and I hope we can keep the wailing and gnashing of teeth to a bare minimum. Thank you, and I'm sorry. Especially to Elisha Cuthbert. Could've been magic, babe... maybe next time around. -D

Whoohoo! Congrats, Drew and new fiancee!!!!
So, more details. Did you get down on one knee? Go out to dinner? Make dinner? (Something romantic, anyway?)
Inquiring minds want to know!

Well... I had hopes that I would be able to snatch you away from her and dress you up in that Princess Leia gold biniki and auction you off to the highest bidder... but this is good, too.
Congrats! And soon welcome to the club of "holy crap I married that chick!" club.

So many people are getting married, it makes me lonely and depressed, but then I remember that I'm 15 and my mom probably wouldn't like me getting married.

Um, darn, I must find a way to comfort my broken and heart and say congratulations. I agree with Lissa, details.
Oh and Justin, thanks for the mental image.

Okay, details- well, after numerous failed ideas -- couldn't find a way to get her down to the shore where we had our first date without her getting suspicious, and the local historical tower with a great view is closed for the season -- I settled on a nice little park near the house where I grew up. Told her I wanted to take her to dinner at Fezziwig's, a nearby restaurant, and suggested taking a walk through the park to see the flowers and all. Turned out there was an economic association meeting there (of course), but they didn't get in the way, and they had the Batmobile there to boot -- the guy who owns the old 60s version lives around us, you sometimes see it cruising around -- which is how I knew for sure this was meant to be. Thus bolstered in spirit, I took her around the park and asked why she sounded kind of down; she responded it was because she had been kind of hoping I was going to propose tonight, but she knew I wasn't actually going to. I said I was sorry to disappoint her and we kept walking -- I commented that the flowers smelled nice, she replied that no, they actually smelled like poop -- eventually coming to a bridge over a pond (my initial choice, the gazebo, had teenagers making out inside). There we stopped and I asked how she had known I wasn't going to... her response was that I just hadn't seemed nervous or excited, and she knew me too well. Obviously I can never pass up a chance to prove her wrong, so I dropped to one knee on the spot, gave my little speech while she got tears in her eyes, put the ring on, and that was that. Then we went to dinner and back to my parents' house so they and my sister could congratulate us. And then the calls started. And since we both work in the same place, I'm now the hero of the office. Huzzah! -D

Getting married at age 15 is a one-way ticket to Cletusville. Drew! You big, awesome, hairy (well, except for the shaven legs) stud of a man! Congratulations! I'm immensely thrilled for you both. I didn't want to be that jerk who constantly asks when you're getting married, but I was dying to know. She (have we picked a Forum nickname for her yet, or what?) is obviously a keeper and you guys seem really happy together. So is there a finite date yet, or is it just at the "in about a year and a half" mark? Hot damn. ;D

Huzzah! -D Aww. See? That's so much better than my proposal. I couldn't wait to do it, and I had to pop the question at 3am when I flew in to see her. The resulting lack of sleep had her laughing hysterically at me for about three minutes, then I asked her if that was a yes or no, and she was like, (I quote): "Si, si, si". No good reason why she started talking Spanish. These wedding rings get awfully comfy, don't they Pooly?

These wedding rings get awfully comfy, don't they Pooly? Absolutely. Although it took me a little while to get used to it. I'd say about a month or two. Now it feels weird to have it off.

Mad, mad props to you, Drew, on your successful proposa.
Now, we gotta start bets on which Mutant will go down next. Me, I got my money on Kyle. Not sure why, but that's who I got my money on.

And Poolman, the dear has decided she'd rather remain a lurker for now, but has consented to the nickname of Lady Luck if you want to refer to her. -D
