I haven't even bothered to offer the obligatory congratulations! -whacks self on head- Bad Jellybean, bad Jellybean! Drew, congratulations. Best of luck. And to mysteriousrockanova... cheer up, I'm 17 and I don't even care about getting married. Plus my mom would also have issues with that.

Wow... Just found this board & started cruising around. This thread's title caught my big browns. I had expected to perhaps read confessions from a reformed hedonist or two...
News like this is always a delightful surprise. Please accept sincere, although belated, well wishes from a seasoned vet of the adventure called marriage. ;D

But then I'm the guy who turned to his mate and asked "What's a diver ted?" when he saw a Diverted sign... Best Regards Dorian

Funny how, like, nine months seems like such a long time... but then 3 days really doesn't. The anticipation mounts- will things go off without a hitch, or will there be a last-minute interruption at the hands of one of my exes? And if so, which- the one who's engaged, the creepy stalker, or the one who's quite content with the... girl she's already got? At this point it's anyone's guess, but don't forget to place your bets!

Hey Drew! Don't forget me! I still have time to get the kilt on and fly down...

You know, I had that same feeling too (no, not about the kilt)... I've seen far, far too many movies where something wacky happens at a wedding and sort of expected something like that to happen in real life.
Instead, it just snows on April 23, one of my groomsmen wears a skirt, a muppet gives the wedding sermon, and the cake wasn't delivered. So I'm sure things will go fine!

I'd just like to remind you that it was Caramel's idea that I actually wear the kilt. As we drew closer the actual wedding, I was definitely feeling more in a "pants" mood.

Heh. And it was one of the highlights, except for that unfortunate updraft during the photos.

I don't think your relatives thought it was a highlight. Weird looks from people I never have to see again is one thing, weird looks from people I'm about to sit down to dinner with is another.

Seriously? I can't vouch for my relatives, not having spoken to many of them afterward, but you got nothing but positive comments -- along the line of "that guy looked cool" or "sharp" -- from church members who were there.

Or "vaguely Canadian". It's a weird thing. Wearing the kilt around people I know? Fine. Wearing the kilt around people I don't know at all and will likely never see again? Fine. Wearing the kilt at a formal function when it was designed - literally created for - fooling around in public... kinda weird. I can say with confidence I won't wear it to your funeral.
